Now that I've seen all 10 Best Picture nominees... 1. Tár 2. Fabelmans 3. Top Gun: Maverick 4. Everything Everywhere All @ Once 5. Women Talking 6. Elvis 7. Banshees of Inisherin 8. Triangle of Sadness 9. Avatar 2 10. All Quiet on the Western Front

For clarification's sake — almost all of these I enjoyed! (I'm a little sick of hyper-greyscale war movies ... sorry, All Quiet.) This is a great Oscars year! the only thing I'd change is squeezing Babylon and RRR, my fave maximalist fever dreams, into that Best Picture lineup

Bummed but not shocked that Babylon didn't get any major Oscar noms. Otherwise, though, this feels like a REALLY strong year! Lots of great movies getting a lot of noms: EEAAO, Tár, Fablemans, Top Gun...I'll even defend Elvis!

Also, it's amazing that RRR snuck in with a Best Original Song nomination for "Naatu Naatu" (a total banger). Should be in MANY more categories, but one's better than zero

The Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners just made the playoffs in the same year for the first time in history.

Seahawks beat the Rams in overtime, 19-16. Seattle is 9-8. And now, the entire state of Washington becomes the biggest bunch of Detroit Lions fans you'll ever see...

Here were my favorites of 2022! It was a particularly great year for movies, with some standout music and TV as well.
