Christianity Today has seen about half its staff quit or laid off in the last 14 mos. Former employees told me that new business leaders have intervened in editorial decisions & are effectively abandoning the outlet's commitment to independent journalism. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/ch…

Horror is, perhaps unexpectedly, one of the most Christian genres of films. Now, a caveat is that most of what gets made today is aesthetically gross and filthy, but the central ideas of horror are often deeply Christian themes: the reality of evil, the inescapability of judgement, supernatural malevolence, the desire for evil to destroy that which is pure , and ultimately the triumph of righteousness and light over evil.

Second day of major voting machine outages in the Como neighborhood of west Fort Worth. I bet all the machines in Southlake are working just fine.

Anecdotal, but I’ve early voted in every Texas election since the 2000 presidential election and I’ve never seen lines like I’m seeing today. And these are mid terms!

Blogged about Matthew McConaughey's deeply exhausting schtick of saying a whole lot about absolutely nothing and also sort of bizarrely plugging Joe Manchin's new think tank: chron.com/culture/article/ma…

I think movies should go back to having villains that are actually evil
New trailer for ‘STEPS’. The film follows Cinderella’s evil stepsisters who are actually depicted as kind & misunderstood. Releasing November 20 on Netflix.

I’m told Trump was embarrassed by the coverage of Zacharia’s briefing and when he polled other aides about her, Zacharia had few allies willing to stand up for her or defend her performance. The main reason he rushed to select her after growing irritated with how long the process was taking to replace Karoline Leavitt was because he wanted more people defending him on TV. When she failed to do so in a sufficient way with Sean Hannity, Trump said he knew she needed to go.

I still maintain they should have released this weekly starting in September so they could have ended with the finale on Friday the 13th in November, but oh well
Peacock press site uploaded 70 images from CRYSTAL LAKE that spoil all kinds of big moments. Even the Jason Universe account is saying, "Mute us, we're going to spoil it today!" The whole release strategy here feels like a case of 'let's just be done with it, gang.' Odd times!

I do think this is the most unsettling aspect of the modern nostalgia trend colliding with the generative artificial intelligence boom. “No need for anything new ever again. We can recycle and reproduce the illusion of the past endlessly in infinite quantities.”
I think part of the despair we all feel is that the past 200 years were an incredible period of human achievement—in film, literature, music—and now we’re being told that nothing will ever be achieved again. The end of all human culture. “We have seen the best of our time.”

several people who attended the Narnia event with Greta & Colbert today have told me she said something like, "most movies at this scale are about destruction, destroying cities or people. I wanted this movie to be only about creation." and that's *all* I need to hear
