Weird quirk of the season:
The Wolves have a legit pet play they're running for Trey Lyles and Ayo Dosunmu. We've seen it all 3 games.
This week's Film Room is all about Ayo and the cast of characters he's playing in the offense right now. Come tap in, link in the comments:
Great LaMelo sequence here.
Gets done on the flex screen, Ayo calls the switch and he recovers, gets over the pindown, rearview contests and then picks off the pass and starts the break for the lob.
It’s easy to overreact to early season wins and it’s such a marathon of a season it’s silly to get too excited about them. I wonder what 2026-27 NBA Champion LaMelo Ball thinks about early season performances.
We saw the Wolves win with their offense in game 1 and win with their defense in game 2.
The usual suspects, but also big nights from the peripheral defenders and as an on-a-string defensive unit as a whole.
Scary good stuff.

Back to back blowouts on a tough Florida road trip to open the season. Been presented with a bunch of different challenges already and passed them all. Moodiness for giddiness.
Actually think Ant’s processing as a passer had been very good in this game. Defense and rebound work too. Saying the shot making has been wayward would be generous but I think he’s still done a lot of good.
Our first real taste of this Wolves offense was an absolute treat.
Shredded Miami's base coverages, maxed out their weapons, and nailed their actions. If this is the first foundations it's going to be a special offensive group.
Here's how it unfolded:

Timberwolves generated 13 (!!) corner 3s in the first half -- 25% of their total FGA (99th percentile) -- making 6 of those 13 (46%).
For reference, San Antonio took the most corner 3s per game last year at 12.4 per game.
Wolves' ball movement has been very solid.
