Pretty sure a birth certificate does make you an American. Not 100% certain ICE knows this, though.

It’s pretty telling that right after Haley Stevens lost, she bought herself goodwill by helping AES for about one minute when it didn’t really matter…and now at the close of the race when it does matter, she and her corporate Dem faction are just openly trying to undermine him. I will say this — corporate Dems understand the stakes. They understand that if AES wins, they are over. That’s why they have been trying to knife him. So in that sense, their behavior is a reflection of how desperate they feel.

NEW: Democratic voters are revolting against their party's leadership. Just 22.5% of Democrats surveyed in key election battlegrounds want Chuck Schumer back as Senate Majority Leader. Voters in 11 competitive House districts also want someone other than Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker.

Politico: Chris Van Hollen says a Democratic-controlled Senate should pursue Medicare for All. “The reality is people are facing huge increases in premiums and copays. … So we need a Medicare-for-All-type solution,” Van Hollen said. “This is the kind of debate we need to have.” Link: politico.com/news/2026/10/26…

The scrambled eggs at a hotel breakfast are 19% water, and they're dyed. A lot of hotels and cafeterias pour them from a carton of Papetti's Breakfast Blend. The spec sheet reads whole eggs, 19% water, then under 2% of salt, xanthan gum, citric acid, annatto color and natural butter flavor. Papetti's is part of Michael Foods, one of the biggest egg processors in the country. Every ingredient has a job on a steam table. Xanthan gum holds the added water in the egg so it doesn't weep into the pan. Citric acid keeps the eggs from turning gray or green under a heat lamp. Annatto puts back the yolk color the water washed out. The butter flavor is there because nobody is going to add butter. The carton keeps for 98 days in the cooler. The plain version from the same company is whole eggs, whey, skim milk, xanthan and citric acid, with almost no added water and half the sodium.

🚨 BRAZIL: BOLSONARO-ALIGNED mayors are REDUCING bus services to make it harder for low-income voters to cast their ballots for LULA. In SALVADOR, the Regional Electoral Court ordered the arrest of the municipal secretary of Mobility.

Bolsonaro is rigging the election in Brazil. All right-wingers are exactly the same.
Multiple cities in Brazil including São Paulo and Salvador which both went for Lula in the first round are reporting having significant parts of their public transport system taken offline as part of vote suppression tactics by pro Bolsonaro politicians

🚨🇧🇷 Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin extended voting nationwide by two hours, to 7 p.m. Brasília time, after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's campaign reported bus shortages in nine states during Sunday's runoff against Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro. 🔸Electoral rules require cities to run free transit at weekday levels on election day. In Salvador, in Lula's northeastern stronghold, Bahia's electoral court ordered the arrest of the city's mobility secretary, Pablo Souza, for withholding buses. In São Paulo, a court had ordered Mayor Ricardo Nunes, a Bolsonaro ally, to put out the full fleet. Lula's campaign says still only about 60% of buses were running. 🔸 Zanin stepped in after justice Kassio Nunes Marques, who has faced criticism over his alleged bias in favor of Bolsonaro, failed to rule before 5 p.m. when voting was set to close, leading to scenes of confusion at polling locations as some sites were forced to reopen. 🔸 Lula told reporters he had never complained about an election, win or lose. "But this time something abominable is happening," he said, according to The Guardian. 🔸 The fallout could reach beyond a delayed count. Eloísa Machado de Almeida, a constitutional law professor at FGV in São Paulo, said that if mayors coordinated with the Bolsonaro campaign to keep people from voting, Flávio's ticket and any mandate it wins could be annulled, and he could be barred from running. 🔸 It's not the first time. In the 2022 runoff, which Lula narrowly won, federal highway police under then-President Jair Bolsonaro stopped buses carrying voters, mostly in the northeast. 🎥 Overcrowded bus garage in São Paulo's East Zone and Lula says right to vote is under attack across Brazil

This is exactly right — it’s corporate media, not “mainstream” media. It’s literally not the mainstream.
Amy Goodman: I don't call the corporate media the mainstream media. I think we represent the mainstream. Those who care about war and peace, the climate catastrophe, LGBTQ issues, racial justice, the immigrant crackdown—are not a fringe minority. Not even a silent majority, but the silenced majority, silenced by the corporate media, which is why we have to take it back.

I think Dems will probably win the midterms (a second-term president’s party rarely ever wins the midterms) But if they lose or even if it’s close, we should ask whether it was a great strategy for Dem leaders to close the campaign promising no Dem leadership changes, promising no M4A, and promising not to pass legislation that Trump might veto. Party leaders closing the campaign with a “nothing will fundamentally change” message seems suboptimal — and discordant with challenger candidates in tough races promising that things will change.

Oh good. The federal agents who showed up at a Florida early voting site were apparently hoping to vote, except THEY WEREN'T REGISTERED TO VOTE IN THAT COUNTY AND DIDN'T REALIZE THEY COULDN'T VOTE THERE. Federal agents who don't know how voting works. Terrific.
