Same thing was said about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to justify the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton one that was more “book accurate.” Guess which one actually stood the test of time and people still watch and quote to this day?
Yep. The trailer just came off like a shot for shot reenactment with slightly different dialogue that says the same thing.
People grew up on these characters and the classic Hogwarts setting. When Sorcerer’s Stone came out it was a massive cultural event and then all those kids grew up and went to the midnight release of DH Part 2. You can touch up secondary stuff but big picture, it’s been perfected
Your point is perhaps currently somewhat correct to the general audience.
But what exactly do you think they’ll do when they’re given an even better version of the story with far more details and depth than they previously know?
Because they’re going to love it. Especially if they already liked the story.
They should completely remake The Empire Strikes Back because the Palpatine visual effect is outdated.
In a single post, I could name at least 10 ways each movie could be improved by a series being more accurate to each book off the top of my head.
And I adore the movies.
But the idea they can’t be improved is like thinking that Norbert the Norwegian could have successfully been tamed and kept secret in Hagrid’s cabin.
