I’ve said it before, but maybe all this means we see Taco getting reps as the second safety Good run defender for a CB. Very athletic for a safety, huge with a big wingspan, can cover TEs Wouldn’t ask him to do it full time, but in certain packages/situations

Al Golden has evolved Cincinnati’s defense by pairing heavy Cover 1 usage with a unique pivot to rotational split-field shells (Cover 6/8). In Base, Golden calls Cover 6 (QQH) with a boundary "Fist" check (2-Man) to wall the run, layer the intermediate, and bracket early-down play-action shots. In Nickel, he flips to Cover 8 (HQQ) to roll Cover 2 over the Nickel (D. Hill), capping the Slot while the backside Safety plays "poach." The Bengals were dead last in Slot DVOA in '25. Structure protects the DBs; rotation kills the early down play-action. My breakdown on Al Golden’s evolution is only on MatchQuarters: matchquarters.com/p/al-golde… --

Amani Hooker owed $24M/2 (that would have nothing guaranteed if we trade for him) One of the highest graded safeties in the sport per PFF (whatever that means) Can play any spot Has always graded out well overall, including as a tackler. Only around a 12% miss rate 4th?

The Bengals are an above average LB and a Safety away from being a top 8 defense
Dexter Lawrence and Boye Mafe have combined for 9 sacks through 6 games. Worth the price. #Bengals @FOX19

It looked bad live, but honestly this is a good job from Barrett Carter to allow other defenders to get there and limit the run after catch of Zay Flowers.

Dexter Lawrence has +4500 or something odds for DPOY He’s being nationally recognized for transforming the bengals defense Well known as probably the best run defender in the sport And is on pace for 11 sacks Feels like really good value.

I get the talk is play to what our strengths are and what not and I generally agree but i don’t know how sustainable having virtually no run game/no under center game is during a playoff run Hope they don’t write off the 1st half yesterday. Improvements must happen
