Out of the 6.9 million people in the UK working in #engineering, just 16.5% of these are women. This #INWED23, we spoke to Joanna Friel of @WhittanGroup, asking her about their biggest challenges in the industry. Thank you so much for your insight, Joanna.

So glad to see 'interest' on this list - it's one that can often be overlooked due to the necessary focus on experience and reliability, but it's key into understanding how passionate they are and how they'll perform in the role.

Apprentices are the future of manufacturing. There is a mutual benefit of training them to increase talent within the industry, whilst also creating the opportunity for them to learn whilst they earn. It also allows current staffing to develop their own leadership skills.
