@Uber and REFORM Alliance are helping people on probation and parole turn second chances into skilled-trades careers with family-sustaining wages and benefits. Through REFORM’s Work Matters program, graduates of the inaugural cohorts in Pennsylvania and Virginia secured full-time jobs, nearly all in local unions—helping them support their families and build a future beyond supervision. The Road To Opportunity features Alan Green in Pittsburgh and Jonathan Casey in Richmond.  Their stories show how reliable transportation can help people navigate the challenges of coming home, build careers, and support their families. When Alan came home from prison, everything had changed. Rebuilding his life meant navigating probation meetings, job interviews, and new opportunities. But as Alan put it, “getting there was half the battle.” Without reliable transportation, even the smallest steps toward stability can feel out of reach. That's where Uber x REFORM came in. Through REFORM Alliance's Work Matters program, Uber-funded rides helped Alan get to skilled-trades training, build new skills, and take the next step toward a career. Today, Alan is an apprentice with the Sheet Metal Workers Union, building a future on his own terms. 🎥 Watch Alan's story and learn how Uber x REFORM is breaking down transportation barriers and driving second chances. 🔗 Read more at the link in bio

REFORM and our coalition partners were at the Capitol this week, leading the effort to pass the federal Safer Supervision Act so people rebuilding their lives and contributing to their communities have a real path off federal supervision. Advocates and organizers came to Washington to bring that message straight to Congress. Follow along and learn more about the Safer Supervision Act. tr.ee/VnoQH2gWTR

Public safety should be the measure that drives supervision, not a one-size-fits-all approach. When low-risk individuals are unnecessarily over-supervised, probation officers have fewer resources to focus on the people who pose the greatest risk to communities. The Safer Supervision Act would allow supervision to be tailored to risk, progress, and individual circumstances 👏

Women on parole face more challenges than men on parole: frequent moves, worse health, and higher rates of mental health and substance use disorders. @stateline_news covers CCJ's report on health, housing, and household circumstances among women on parole: stateline.org/2026/09/03/wom…

What does it really take to rebuild your life after prison, and what role should supervision play in helping people succeed? For our latest REFORM Speaker Series, we sat down with Jesse Crosson for a conversation about reentry, second chances, and what a better supervision system can look like. Jesse shared his experience returning home after serving 19 years in prison, navigating three years of probation, and confronting the challenges that come with rebuilding a life after incarceration. He spoke about the importance of community, mental health support, meaningful opportunities, and a supervision system focused on helping people move forward, not holding them back. What happens when the exception becomes the rule? Ask the 110,000 Americans currently on federal supervision. When it was created, federal supervision was meant to be a targeted tool focused on helping people reintegrate into their communities. 40 years later? The number of people on federal supervision has grown by roughly 200%. That's not targeted intervention. That's a system that stretches supervision officers past their limits and makes individualized support nearly impossible. Supervision should be a bridge to stability. It's time to bring the system back to what it was intended to do. 🔗 Learn more and become a REFORMer - ow.ly/6wmM50ZC08R

Real change often starts with unlikely partnerships finding common ground. A governor. A rapper. People with lived experience. Advocates. Policymakers. After years of organizing, testimony, and relentless advocacy, Meek Mill, Governor Josh Shapiro, REFORM, the Pennsylvania Safety Coalition, and countless advocates came together to turn one person's experience with endless probation into lasting policy change. The result was Act 44, a landmark law that's creating a fairer, more individualized supervision system and giving tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians a real opportunity to move forward. As REFORM CEO @JessicaJackson explains, "Act 44 created a more proportionate approach to technical violations, the same kind of noncriminal missteps that repeatedly sent Meek back to prison and derailed the progress of too many others." This is what real reform looks like. Think you or someone you know could benefit from Act 44? @MeekMill turned his own probation nightmare into a movement to transform the system. In his new “Nightmares to Dreams” music video, @GovernorShapiro pulled up to honor the partnership they built fighting for probation reforms in Pennsylvania. It took five years, hundreds of advocates, and a coalition spanning the political spectrum. In December 2023, Governor Shapiro signed Act 44 into law as Meek spoke through tears about what the moment meant for people trapped in the system. Today, thousands of Pennsylvanians have a clearer path off probation and are moving forward with their lives. From nightmares to dreams. This is what reform looks like.

Supervision works best when it helps people move forward, not when it stands in their way. When Justine faced a difficult moment, her probation officer responded with trust, understanding, and support. That belief in her progress made all the difference. Stories like Justine's show what's possible when supervision prioritizes rehabilitation, stability, and second chances. Let’s work toward a supervision system where this kind of care is the norm, not the exception. Become a REFORMer today: tr.ee/jxRTUvC3u6.

🎉Huge news coming out of Virginia: If you're on probation, you may be eligible for early termination. As of July 1, your probation officer is now required to recommend you for early termination if you comply with your supervision conditions, stick to your case plan, and pose little to no risk to public safety for 12 months. Talk to your probation officer and find out if you might qualify using our free eligibility tool. reformalliance.com/va_eligib… Thank you to the VA Safety Coalition and our incredible partners for making this possible. ⭐️Legal Aid Justice Center ⭐️The Humanization Project ⭐️Virginia Police Benevolent Association

Five years ago, Mississippi proved that smarter investments in safe parole can work. Since the Earned Parole Eligibility Act became law, 98% of people made eligible for parole under it did NOT return to prison on new charges within the first 24 months following release. By rewarding progress and removing unnecessary barriers, this law has helped more people rebuild stable, successful lives. Second chances make communities safer. Both sides agree across the aisle. 🤝 In today’s Attorney General confirmation hearing both sides agree we need to pass the Safer Supervision Act. Acting Attorney General @DAGToddBlanche endorsed the bipartisan Safer Supervision Act during his Senate confirmation hearing today. The legislation is led by @SenMikeLee (R-UT) and Sen. @ChrisCoons (D-DE) who have come together around a simple idea: federal supervision should make us safer. The Safer Supervision Act would make federal supervision more effective and more focused on public safety by helping probation officers focus their time and resources where they are needed most. Now Congress needs to act. 🔗 Learn more and become a REFORMer tr.ee/FM68GVIpQH

"Supervised release was not meant to be punitive. It was solely meant to help someone readjust themselves back into the community." Kito Bess has over 20 years of experience in community corrections, most recently leading federal supervision in Louisiana and Minnesota. He knows what keeps the public safe: helping people rebuild and move forward, not keeping them on supervision longer than necessary. When people are doing the work and staying in compliance, more supervision doesn't make communities any safer. It pulls officers away from higher-risk cases and creates more chances for technical violations that derail progress. The Safer Supervision Act would let people earn their way off supervision so frontline officers can focus their attention where it matters most: keeping the public safe. Tell Congress to pass the Safer Supervision Act. tr.ee/MoZ3oRYKH9

This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking about the mothers navigating incarceration and supervision. These mothers are often separated from their children for years at a time, forced to parent through phone calls, emails, visitation rooms, and impossible distance. We are honored to partner with @KimKardashian and Ladies of Hope Ministries (@thelohm) to enable 50 incarcerated moms to spend this Mother's Day with their children. They deserve better. We must do better.
