I'm so excited to share that we are acquiring the financial services app, @step Nobody taught me about investing, building credit, or managing money when I was growing up. That's exactly why we’re joining forces with Step! I want to give millions of young people the financial foundation I never had. Lots to share soon :D

Advisor: why are you wasting time on (founder / company), you need to dump the struggling losers faster. You’ve founded several BILLION dollar companies, keep your bar higher. Me: well, hard to know; I was a struggling loser too, a few times, until we got the companies to work.

This is actually technically funny (not a dad joke) because getting the joke requires insider knowledge of gaap and engineering culture - a classic comedians technique of letting the audience in on something and implying that they are smart Good joke!

This is why VC is broken right now Whole swaths of the VC ecosystem think: 1) that every good deal is concensus 2) that "research" is simply doing a market map 3) that the core skill of venture is knowing what deals are hot, rather than building independent conviction
The role of VC analysts & associates has permanently changed Access > Analysis AI can now handle majority of market research & memo writing The next generation will primarily win by bringing elite founder & talent networks to the firm

Innovation is art - it can’t be scaled. Scaling a team creates a hierarchy to reduce coordination costs. Hierarchy introduces the Principal-Agent problem. Agents optimize for status and cohesion over correctness. Going from zero to one requires a founder-led flat team.

Clearance = sub-accounting + reconciliation, layered over GRPC databases with blockchain. Think of it like ‘copy, paste, special, values’ but on-ledger—then AI optimizes the settlement layer. The goal? Zero settlement margins. Big banks already act as clearinghouses, this just formalizes it into a unified system of record.

Could someone just make all venture returns public? Would be a lot more fun that way.

I know & accept the news moved on from the Palisades Fire. 🔥 Update: Most of us are still in hotels or Airbnbs. Even if your house is standing there isn’t potable water or gas or electricity My home burned but didn’t burn down. This is my neighbor 🧵

For everyone saying this is not a time for blame, this is exactly the moment that the people who have been responsible for the mismanagement of California's fire policies be held accountable. Our governor has been obsessed with holding a special session to "Trump-proof" CA, when he should be focused on FIRE-PROOFING our communities. Here are a few hard facts about the democrat-run state's failures to address fire prevention:

More than half of American voters voted for Trump. He won the popular vote by a decisive margin! Cutting someone off just because they voted for the other candidate is close-minded and just plain mean.
Don't do this. No matter how much you dislike Trump, don't do this. Half the people in America voted for Trump. If you think voting for Trump makes people evil, then you have to believe half the people in America are evil, and that's just deluded.

Welcome to the new members of America's most pro-crypto Congress ever... 219+ pro-crypto candidates and counting have now been elected to the House & Senate. Tonight the crypto voter has spoken decisively - across party lines and in key races across the country. Americans disproportionately care about crypto and want clear rules of the road for digital assets. We look forward to working with the new Congress to deliver it. Thank you to everyone who stood with crypto today. We did it! #StandWithCrypto

Tech’s Merit-Based, Mission-First Job Board When Scale CEO Alexandr Wang recently posted about his company’s policy of hiring for MEI (merit, excellence, and intelligence) over other factors like race or gender, the reception to his announcement perfectly illustrated the vibe shift. Aside from a few exceptions (ie, TechCrunch, which just deleted half their most recent piece on him in the middle of the night last night), Wang was largely met with praise — perhaps because founders and power players across tech are increasingly joining him in the view that hiring should not be racial. In fact, you could fill an entire website at this point with quotes from influential tech figures who have recently come out for mission-first and meritocracy over DEI. @balajis did just that — he created a website whose homepage serves as a grid of pro-meritocracy tweets from tech leaders, and a job board of available positions at companies that are solely mission-oriented. Today for Pirate Wires, @rylzdigital gives us the scoop on the new project, and explains why it signals a clear shift for the tech industry. Read it on the site👇

Let me add to this to clarify...when I was young, one great piece of advice I got was be the non-complainer. When asked by someone to do something, I would do it. When asked to build a deck, I did it. And obsessed about every word, transition, image and animation until I felt it was pixel perfect. This took time. When asked to build a model, not only did I try to understand the purpose, I made the model flexible, structurally sound and elegant. This took time. When asked to work on a project, I took it on head first, developed some sense of it and then wrote a few pages explaining what I had learned and why it may be valuable as the project went forward, or didn't. This took time. Meanwhile, I didn't have time to gossip, I didn't have time to make friends at work, I didn't have time to complain. I made myself indispensable to my superiors by being a reliable worker. They then took me into the rooms they were in because I was essential to them doing well. Eventually, as they transitioned further upwards, I took command of the rooms they used to run. This is how the process is supposed to work. So if you want to get into the rooms where it happens, don't complain and don't get distracted. Be a reliable worker to those you work for and with. The rest takes care of itself.
Such a great message and A+ career advice from @chamath Worth a listen.
