💯meaning educ is a complex interactive process rather than merely transactional. This is important when thinking abt using genAI in educ. Those who think AI will replace teachers see educ as transactional, thinking of AI as an affordance means seeing educ as interactional.

Yes, An educational approach obsessed with knowledge(or long term memory) for measurement's sake misses the point entirely. "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure" (Goodhart’s Law)
"Learning should be seen as a qualitative change in a person's way of seeing, experiencing, understanding, conceptualizing something in the real world - rather than as a quantitative change in the amount of knowledge someone possesses." -Paul Ramsden (Australian educator)

Can workplace-based #assessment tools redesigned for #CBME give better data? In this study with colleagues Sebastian Dewhirst, Tim Wood, & @wjcheungem we looked at this issue. A stunning 59% of score variability was attributable to learner performance. Check it out here: asmepublications.onlinelibra… @DrDanSchumacher @CincyIM @Midwest_MedPeds @sherbino : WDYT? (Bring on the debate! 😀) #meded

Less than 40% of US workplaces offer >3 days of paid bereavement. It's time for compassionate leave: -More paid days: no one should have to work the week they lose a loved one -Nonconsecutive days: grief isn't linear -More coverage: beyond immediate family; include pregnancy loss #GriefAwarenessDay optionb.org/bereavement-at-w…
