The worst politicians in America are about to quote Martin Luther King Jr. You can’t quote “I have a dream” on MLK Day then legislate against that dream every other day of the year.

The most important reason to treat people well is not what you'll get in return. It's who you hope to become. Kindness is not about reciprocity or karma. It's about character. Civility doesn't need to be justified with consequences. Respecting others is the right thing to do.

Dean. Yes there is a black national anthem. It’s called “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Been that way since the early 1900’s. And while we have had a black national anthem black people have been loyal to America, fighting in her wars, working in her factories, loving her promise, and contributing to her global dominance. Black people have loved a country that has not always loved them back. Two things can be true. Lift Every Voice encourages a people to faithfully rely on God for provision and a future while still growing and flourishing where they are planted. And yes, the Star Spangled Banner is the official National Anthem (1931). For the innocently uneducated it may seem that the two songs are at odds. They can be taught and will embrace a broadened understanding. However, the intentionally ignorant, who desire to sow discord and controversy, are the true impediment to the unity they espouse. Which one are you?
There is no Black National Anthem. There is no Asian National Anthem. There is only the National Anthem 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

“Stay woke. Keep your eyes open.” - Lead Belly The Scottsboro Boys, nine Black teens falsely accused of raping two white women in 1931, were sentenced to death. NAACP forced repeated retrials. They were finally freed but never recovered. The first documented use of the phrase “stay woke” happened in the 1930s when Lead Belly ended his song about the Scottsboro Boys by advising Black folk traveling through Alabama to “stay woke.” The term “woke" was created by Black people referring to being alert to systemic racial injustices. #BlackHistoryWithLana #Fresh

Your work does not define your worth. A career is what you do—it doesn’t have to reflect who you are. Making a job part of your identity is an option, not an obligation. Your impact in the world doesn’t depend on how you make a living. It derives from how you live your values.

Don’t apologize for being uninformed Apologize for calling a college kid an F’ing idiot Acknowledge the optics of a middle aged white man w/ power and platform publicly calling a young black woman an F’ing idiot with no remorse. Apologize for not caring about any of that.

I apologize for being uninformed last night about the back story on this. I don't follow hoops, college or pro, men or women. I had no idea about Clark. Both were wrong. This is what I said in today's Countdown podcast. 2nd segment, about 24 minutes in: tinyurl.com/cfuwwpms
