Ciara Mageean died this morning. A light has gone out in the world. Authentic, talented, decent. Her kindness and wonderful personality was a joy to watch and see. Then came her iconic sporting achievements.
When we sat down with Ciara for the GAA Social in July, she received disappointing news the day before. Ciara didn’t want to cancel, so we recorded on the Tuesday. It’s 90 minutes Oisin & myself will always treasure. She was the best of us.
To Thomas, I’m so sorry. She was mad about you. To the Mageean family, all her great friends and the Portaferry community- what a stunning human being, to call one of your own. This is so unfair.
I’ve never met a person who met Ciara, who didn’t love her. A one off.

SIPTU has a clear message for public servants scheduled to work from home on Wednesday. Don't do it.
Don't open your laptop. Don't check your emails. Don't teach online. Don't answer your phone.

MORNING UPDATE - GARVAGHY ROAD - THURSDAY - DAY 12 🇮🇪
🔘 Everyday so far, has brought something different , but yesterday something changed. Something definitely changed... There is now frustration... And also annoyance...
The British Secretary of State, Chris Bryant, has been virtually anonymous in the past week. Nowhere to be seen... There is still no High Court Judgement. The people are now taking action...
🔘 Yesterday Nationalist Residents Groups from all across the North of Ireland met in Portadown. A statement was issued. If the Orange Order continue to attempt to march down the Garvaghy Road then all other agreements about contentious parades across the North of Ireland will have to be revisited. Enough is enough...
🔘 The people are taking to the streets. Tomorrow (Friday) a protest will be held outside the NIO Offices in Belfast City Centre.
And on Saturday, thousands will be taking to the streets. Three big rallies in three major locations;
Belfast City Hall - 12pm.
Derry Guildhall - 12pm.
Newry Town Hall - 12pm.
Breandan Mac Cionnath will be Chief Speaker at the Derry Rally. (Derry the city famous for those Civil Rights rallies in the 1970's) - And yet here we are again...
🔘 Folk singer, John Spillane from County Cork came to the Garvaghy Road yesterday to entertain the people. The musicians never let the people down... The Garvaghy Road Residents also held a protest last night in support of the people of Palestine. 🇸🇩
🔘 Legendary American guitarist, musician and activist Tom Morello from RageAgainst The Machine added his name to the list supporting the Garvaghy Road Residents.
🔘 The Unionist Political Parties continue to call for the arrest of protestors and have submitted a "no confidence motion" in our First Minister Michelle O'Neill. It will not succeed...
Unionism is now led by 3 Party Leaders who are all a throwback to the last Century of Unionist domination. Their anger, their outrage... There is no difference between any of them.
They are so cocooned in their bubble that they cannot see what is happening - They are now disconnected from sizeable parts if their own Protestant community. Something is changing. People want something different... A new and better Ireland....
We will see what today brings.
Support the people. Attend the Rallies. Deliver a message....

A significant development for the A5 project.
The Court of Appeal has overturned the previous decision which had prevented work from commencing on the scheme.
This is a welcome and important step forward in the long-running process towards the delivery of this vital infrastructure project.

A complete abdication of responsibility from Uefa not to have their match delegate present for Republic of Ireland press conference, in my opinion.
Chaotic, angry and co-ordinated scenes from Israeli journalists.

I watched Rory Grugan's debut in Newry in 2011. It was clear he was a special player. Spoke to him after he called time on a dramatic, frustrating and ultimately rewarding 15 years playing for Armagh.

I too won't be watching this Ireland team again. An opportunity lost. The pride I felt watching Ireland v Hungary last year has faded. What could have been. #BoycottIsraelFA #BoycottFAI

The Irish people have our utmost respect. ❤️
And, of course, huge respect to Heimir Hallgrímsson, Ireland’s national team manager. 🤝🇵🇸
Heimir Hallgrimsson, the Republic of Ireland manager, is facing backlash from the Israel Football Association (IFA) ahead of their Nations League clash after he said "we’re playing against genocide."
The IFA accused him of "stupidity, ignorance and hypocrisy."

"I have checked, double-checked, and then triple-checked – and can find not one single mention of a Nobel Prize having been awarded to the Israel FA.
"If they mean Nobel Prizes awarded to people from Israel then even that is a matter for debate.
"Of the 14 names listed only ONE was actually born in Israel. Two others moved there, one aged 9, the other 13."

Jesus lads. @IrelandFootball has to pull the plug. The decision should have been made months ago. Surely this is the straw... The on-going destruction of Palestine and is people needs a string stance from Ireland. Losing points or at worst loss of host status does not equate.
We have contributed to the world and humanity in countless fields, earning an impressive number of Nobel Prizes along the way. Unfortunately, we have not yet found a cure for stupidity, ignorance and hypocrisy displayed by @IrelandFootball team coach. We’re not playing with ignorance, hypocrisy and stupidity, We’re playing against the coach who embodies them.
