Bernie, AOC, and Zohran are way more popular than Schumer or Jefferies, so when mainstream Dems say they are worried about what those politicians will do to their brand, they are talking about w/donors not voters. Keeping the cash flow going is more important to them than winning

The elite panic over @ZohranKMamdani's win is not about his strong-but-hardly-radical agenda.
The intensity of elites' freakout signals their bigger fear: for the first time, they couldnt buy an election, which makes them fear they may be losing power.

Following last nightโs #NYCMayor primary results, a lot of people are just now noticing that New York has a high immigrant population.
Nevertheless, if โ
of NYC is foreign-born now, thatโs actually a lower share than it was before WW1 when 41% of New Yorkers were immigrants.

Reid: Why did the Iran hostage crisis take place?
Todd: Because fundamentalist radicals took over the government
Reid: They overthrew the shah who we imposed on Iran because the Dulles brothers, one at the CIA and one at the state department, decided that the oil beneath the soil of Iran belonged to BP and belonged to us. And when mossadegh, who was the leader of Iran, the democratically elected leader of Iran, said that we would like to audit BP because we want to know if you are cheating us or paying the people of Iran based on the oil under their soil. And they said, you may not audit us. And then we overthrew him and he wound up dying in prison because we decided in our arrogance as a country, got to own their oil.

I learned about Trumpโs unconstitutional attack on Iran at a large rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here is the response:

I miss the days when a President had to go through Congress to declare war. When we actually debated life-or-death decisions. When launching bombs required more than just a press release and a social media post. Because if one man can unilaterally drag us into war, what exactly are the rest of us voting for?

Donald Trump has now launched an illegal war of aggression against Iran. The risk of an absolute catastrophe is very high and the benefits are non existent. Worst of all, he did it on behalf of a foreign government against a country who posed no threat to us.

"But we're not selling National Parks! We're only selling 3 million acres of National Forests and Bureau of Land Management, where Americans love to hunt, fish, hike, and ski!"
- the current best argument they have

The die is cast and Trump now unilaterally owns the consequences for years to come. No matter what happens after this the โanti-warโ movement born of the failures of the Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria has failed and is no longer a force that can credibly shape events
The brightest stars of the movement are now complicit in the very thing they claimed they wanted to stop. Pray for our country and our service members

Itโs almost as if itโs universally unpopular to sleazily propose a 3 million acre public lands sell-off thatโs opposed by 90% of Americans

Imagine how much better off weโd be if politicians were valued based on the problems they solvedโฆnot the media/social media attention they attracted

One of the greatest deceptions of our time is the false narrative that we should be more concerned about a poor person misusing the welfare system or an immigrant being here illegally than we are about cruel people having unprecedented wealth and power over all of us.

Someday, weโll create a world where politics isnโt about going viral and getting dopamine hitsโฆbut about achieving substantive progress for the people/places that need it most

just so we're all on the same page here...when billionaires give huge amounts of money to candidates, they expect something in return and that something is often about prioritizing them in policy decisions over working class people who have far less power

โWe can all agree our environmental future requires better than political gridlock.
Nature used to be nonpartisan.
And with the help of those who believe America is far better off when we work together, it will be again.โ
