Alarm bells rang when this cheetah was seen struggling with a limp. Cheetahs can reach speeds of up to 120 kph, so mobility can mean the difference between life and death.
Our Mara Mobile Vet Unit sprang into action, sedating the beautiful big cat to examine its limb safely and check for fractures, cuts or tissue damage. Fortunately it was only a sprain, so targeted anti-inflammatory drugs and pain relief were all it needed.
Cheetahs face threats from other big cats, people, prey loss and habitat loss. They need every helping hand they can get, including emergency treatments like this one, carried out in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
The war with Iran has cost the U.S. military at least $47.1 billion as of mid-October, according to a new estimate from U.S. Central Command obtained by CBS News.
The bulk of the war's price tag is the cost of replacing expended munitions, which CENTCOM pegged at around $29 billion, according to the latest estimate, which was provided to lawmakers.

"Witnessing such a young elephant lose its life to trophy hunting is a painful reminder of why we cannot allow this to continue.Together, let's demand stricter regulations and an immediate ban on trophy hunting. Our wildlife deserves better. #BanTrophyHuntingNow"

Misheck can’t even take a tea break without Wangalla glued to his side!
Our long-serving Keeper is a real favourite with some of our youngest orphans, and it’s because of him that Wangalla is alive today. When the tiny infant struggled with teething, Misheck would pull his chair outside her stable, armed with a bushel of fresh greens, and pluck every leaf off the branches one by one, selecting only the best.
In the fullness of time, Wangalla’s journey will take her back to the wilds of Tsavo East, where her story began. For now, you can be part of it through an adoption, for yourself or as a gift for someone special: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…
Back in the park after taking a break and I was able to see Bramble in the Ramble again. Too high up to get a good photo and after it flew low it was already too dark to focus so this is the best I could do. Taken at a respectful distance and 1 sec long exposure. #birdcpp

We spend so much time on the "big picture" with owls that details such as the very delicate facial feathers may escape notice...(Barred Owl in the Ramble this morning). #birdcpp #BirdsSeenIn2026 #birdphotography #birdwatching

Musings from the Barn🦝
It's hard to plan nibbles for any costumed critter that comes looking for treats on Halloween because if you buy too much, then you'll just have to eat them yourself. Be sure to get a variety just in case you'll be who enjoys that whole bowl of sweetness.

On Monday, Bramble the Barred Owl returned to the Central Park Ramble after spending several weeks somewhere outside the park. Bramble became a star in September by hunting well before sunset and giving amazing views, and did so again yesterday. 🦉 🧡

Press for treatos.
Seems straightforward enough.
Although I have been informed that pressing it 47 times does NOT constitute an emergency.
We shall see about that….
I've been warned that one more press will result in disciplinary action. I've pressed it twice just to clarify.

Friends! I’ve only been on my new medicine for a few days but Mum thinks she is already seeing some small changes. I have a bit more energy, seem more alert, and I am sleeping a little less. But do you know what hasn’t changed? Baby Dog’s dedication to me. He’s been right by my side, watching over me, all the time. I love him ❤️
