Well above normal temperatures will persist through Friday, easing some by the weekend. Scattered light showers are possible Thursday through the weekend. A pattern shift early next week will bring higher chances for more widespread rainfall and cooler temperatures. #ILwx

The pumpkins you picked have been out in a field since early summer, dodging cucumber beetles, squash bugs, and powdery mildew. Happy #NationalPumpkinDay to the growers who got them through the season!

Today (10/24/26) is Pythagorean Theorem Day. The month, day, and last two digits of the year are a Pythagorean triple and satisfy the Pythagorean theorem equation (a² + b² = c²). 10² + 24² = 26² This is the final Pythagorean Theorem Day of the 21st century.

@VP & @SecRollins announced $1.34B in total proposed investment to support 8 fertilizer manufacturing projects through USDA's Fertilizer Investment & Expansion for Long-Term Domestic Supply (FIELDS) Program. This effort is expected to reduce foreign reliance, lower fertilizer costs, and expand U.S. capacity for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, & sulfur. Big win for American farmers! 💪🇺🇸 usda.gov/about-usda/news/pre…

NEW: The Pentagon has granted the Department of Homeland Security permission to test a heat ray weapon at the southern border. The military-grade heat ray can shoot an invisible beam of electromagnetic waves at potential intruders. The weapon can reach people more than half a mile away, according to the United States military. According to the Pentagon, the heat ray weapon is non-lethal but causes a burning sensation on the skin that can last between 10 and 15 minutes. The weapon sends an uncomfortable tingling effect on a potential intruder, generating "an instinctive and irresistible urge to run from the effect." Officials say the feeling is similar to the blast of heat you receive when you open up a hot oven.

Harvest relief for America’s farmers. Today, @POTUS and @SecRollins announced the Harvest Fuel Relief Program — making $8 BILLION available for one-time payments to farmers facing higher costs and market disruptions. Here’s what that means: ➡️ Payments to help cover a portion of estimated losses for the 2026 crop year. ➡️ Payment amounts based on planted acres, production costs, crop yields, and prices. ➡️ Row crop payment rates announced in November, with details for other eligible commodities to follow. ➡️ Application will be available online using a Login.gov account that is connected to USDA. 🔗 usda.gov/about-usda/news/pre…

Soybean harvest complete? If not, the rain will bring moistures back up to desirable levels after seeing quite a few single digits the past couple days. See chart on yield implications... If you are finished with soybean harvest, give some consideration on how the nutrients removed will be replenished if need be for next years crop. Chart below shows the equivilent amount of potash removed for different yield levels. Whether your are going to replace with commercial fertilizer, manure or soil biology/minerilzation, soybeans are potassium hogs! Contact your local Pioneer Sales Rep with questions.

Mike Ditka was scheduled to sing the seventh inning stretch on July 5th, 1998. This was the year that Harry Caray died and the “guest conductor” was new at Wrigley Field. Ditka got stuck in traffic and was running late. By the time the top of the seventh ended, Ditka was still not there and Steve Stone and Chip Caray stalled for time. Finally Ditka busts into the press box, grabs the mic, and screams Take Me Out To The Ball Game in twenty two seconds! Organist Gary Pressy could barely keep up! The crowd roared with approval! R.I.P. Mike Ditka
