Three American teens, roughly 3,400 to 5,500 miles from home, started playing music together in high school in London while their military families were stationed in England.
Do you know who they are?
What began as kids jamming quickly turned into a real following among British audiences before the rest of the world caught on.
By 1972 they had a No. 1 hit with "A Horse with No Name," followed by classics like "Ventura Highway" and "Sister Golden Hair."
The next year they took home the Grammy for Best New Artist, and more than 50 years later they’re still touring and recording.
Not a bad story for three high-school kids who just wanted to play music an ocean away from the country that inspired them.

One of my biggest regrets is never serving in the military. Having graduated high school in ‘77, I was between wars & active conflicts.
I was however shot at once, at close range when I interrupted a rapist at the College Park campus in 1980. I was running the perpetrator down when he reached for his midsection, pivoted, and shot two rounds over my head. I was hugging the ground, and then started running in the other direction.
I’m telling this story to make the claim that I was under fire more than our stolen valor @GovWesMoore ever was!
I respect Moore for his military service, but that respect evaporated when he claimed to have been awarded a bronze star 20-years before it was actually awarded, and for claiming he led troops into battle and was in direct enemy fire!
