Messages like this one are mostly, if not entirely, emanating from Hegseth’s team at the Pentagon
Senior admin official tells @realDailyWire that Pete Hegseth and Stephen Miller are completely in “lockstep” with one another: “Stephen and Pete have been extremely close since the beginning of the admin.  Their close partnership has been instrumental in advancing some of the president’s biggest national security priorities since day one like securing the border, multiple national guard deployments and targeting narcos in our hemisphere.” That official also notes that the speed at which all this was accomplished was “unprecedented,” adding, “I think you’ll continue to see how lockstep they are in the coming months and not just with the president’s priorities.”

Steven Miller's immigration policy has taken arguably the GOP's best issue and made it a liability. He, second only to Trump himself, is responsible for blowing up the multiracial coalition that elected Trump in 2024 and sparked the GOP's dream of a multiracial working class coalition. He's also probably the single most despised person in American politics. So of course, Trump appointed him Chief of Staff after getting humiliated at the polls. It's so perfect.

As possibly the only person in American politics less popular than Trump himself, it makes perfect sense. An autocrat's circle always grows smaller as ruthless loyalty out of complicity becomes the only relevant qualification.

GOP was put in the position it is currently in by people who, for a decade, sanctimoniously screeched about being a purifying force, purged or browbeat any voice of normalcy in the party, and when they felt strong enough to get away with it demanded that people vote for this:

It is the last-stage moment of the true fanatics. A dying regime promotes the diehards- seen this dynamic before
Buckle up: this is a sign of Trump's contempt for the voters. In the aftermath of an election that was a repudiation of Trump's corruption, wars, cruelty, and indifference to the economic pain of Americans, it’s another kick in the teeth to the American people.

These are all environmental factors but by far the biggest impact was that Shapiro directly and aggressively made it a choice between his team and agenda vs. his entrenched GOP opponents and their obstruction. Voters rejected Senate GOP on those merits and gave Shapiro and Dems a clear mandate

WHO THE HELL DID MELANIA TRUMP WELCOME TO THE WHITE HOUSE YESTERDAY? Well, this gets better. And by “better,” I mean a spectacular fucking disaster. Yesterday, Melania Trump publicly thanked Russian official Yana Lantratova for her humanitarian work. How sweet. One tiny detail: Lantratova is under US sanctions, and Ukrainian authorities have accused her of involvement in the abduction and forced transfer of children from occupied Kherson. But wait. That's just the appetizer. Lantratova also happens to be co-chair of the International Club of National Unity, a Russian organization established in 2025 to promote Moscow's interests abroad under the charming banner of “traditional spiritual and moral values.” And what a delightful little club it is! Her fellow co-chair is Mykola Azarov, Ukraine's former prime minister, who fled to Russia after Euromaidan. Its leadership includes Aleksandr Dugin, the ideologue of Russian imperialism; Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat forces; senior Kremlin officials, propagandists, and assorted professional Putin enthusiasts. Now comes the really juicy part. The club's published membership list includes Sergey Panteleyev, identified by the European Union as an officer of GRU Unit 54777, the Russian military intelligence outfit described by The Washington Post as a nerve center of Moscow's psychological warfare operations. And sitting on the club's presidium? Aleksandr Ionov, a man the US Justice Department charged with orchestrating an FSB-directed influence operation involving American political organizations, Russian propaganda, and interference in US elections. Yes. That American Justice Department. The international cast is equally entertaining. The club has published the names of Tucker Carlson, Jeffrey Sachs, Scott Ritter, and former CIA analyst Larry Johnson in various roles or membership lists. Carlson's name later disappeared; Ritter has participated in club events, while Johnson remains listed on its presidium. A name appearing on a Russian organization's website does not, by itself, establish someone's consent to membership. And for a little extra flavor, there's Viktor Bout, the notorious Russian arms dealer once imprisoned in the United States. This isn't some secret dossier leaked by an intelligence agency. THE RUSSIANS PUT THE FUCKING ROSTER ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE. The club produces propaganda programming, organizes international events, and promotes Russian political narratives abroad. Researchers were examining its intelligence connections well before yesterday's White House circus. So let's appreciate the full absurdity. At an event supposedly devoted to helping Ukrainian civilians suffering under Russian occupation, the First Lady of the United States publicly honored a Russian official accused of involvement in the forced transfer of Ukrainian children. An official who also co-chairs a Kremlin-aligned influence network whose published roster includes a GRU officer and a man charged by the US government with working for the FSB. And Melania thanked her for bringing hope and dignity to victims of the war. You couldn't write this shit as satire. The writers would reject it for being too fucking ridiculous. Apparently, the new White House humanitarian protocol is simple: Accused of taking Ukrainian children? Come on in! Connected to a propaganda club featuring Russian military intelligence? Lovely! Under American sanctions? Don't be shy! Welcome to the White House. Would you like a medal with your propaganda?

Schumer didn’t “give Haley Stevens $10 million.” There were pop-up pro-Israel PACs that came in for her; that wasn’t money that Schumer controlled and could have otherwise given to Nixon. Schumer, through the Senate Dem PACs, did direct $132 million to El-Sayed and Jackson. Both called Israel’s actions in Gaza “genocide.” Whack away at Schumer for not funding Nixon but there is some mythmaking going on about him secretly funneling money to Stevens and cutting off “anti-genocide” candidates. He didn’t cut them off, and the bet on Stevens was — foolishly imo — that she’d be a cheaper nominee bc AIPAC would spend for her. metrotimes.com/news/politics…
Let’s be clear. Chuck Schumer gave Haley Stevens $10m because of her devout love for Israel. He gave Angie Nixon zero because of her opposition to genocide. Haley lost to Abdul (twice!) Angie lost by 238k votes. His selfish, incompetent and treacherous actions cost us a Senate seat.

Democrats, do not give up on rural America This is your chance to rebuild the Democratic Party & entrench yourself by doing great work for your constituents Our majorities are as large as it is, because rural folks took a chance on you
WaPo: Rural Voters in GOP Strongholds Helped Carry Democrats Democrats have a surprising group of voters to thank, in part, for their sweeping victories in the midterm elections Tuesday. Rural counties across the country swung more than 15 percentage points toward Democrats this year compared with 2024. While rural communities remained more Republican than Democratic, their support waned significantly, hurting GOP candidates who relied on the typically deep-red voting bloc. washingtonpost.com/politics/…
