Not sure how to teach through task?
Here's a short read to help you get started:

Enjoyed learning alongside @ScotsburnE teachers through the painted cube task, unpacking #thinkingclassroom framework. Very inspiring to see and hear them work together on this task and reflect on toolkit#1 and book study! @pgliljedahl

There is so much great stuff in this post that goes beyond #thinkingclassroom. And I love you use of “centre of gravity”. What a great metaphor.

So happy that this activity is being used in Nova Scotia schools. All these years later, Dianne’s knowledge is still inspiring youth. @_DaveWagner

A great day at home with the family yesterday! Really special to play cards with Sophie! Charlie is learning too!!!
Toolkit #1 BTC
-Give Thinking Tasks
-Form Visible Random Groups
-Use Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces
“These three practices are all about creating a new set of norms in the room that necessitate that the system change, and with it, your students” p. 284
#thinkingclassroom
Reflecting on BTC framework with my Ss. I feel toolkit #1 and #2 are working well and parts of #3. Working on:
Consolidating from Bottom
Ss writing meaningful notes
Navigation instruments to help Ss see where they are and where they’re going

Q1: Introduce yourself plus what & where you teach.
+ How has the way in which you have students take notes changed over time? What happened that prompted the change?

Sixth grade math teachers! I've made @openmiddle Depth of Knowledge matrices to show how a single problem can replace an entire worksheet in sixth grade math. Download it now here: robertkaplinsky.com/depth-of… #MTBoS #iteachmath

The interactive multiplication grids on Polypad can help you visualise multiplying integers, decimal numbers or fractions. You can even multiply numbers in bases other than 10! polypad.org/LqfRpJ8EnNZP9A

Mmm… perfect rectangle month. This year February is an exact rectangle because it starts on a Monday and it’s not a leap year.
But it’s not as rare as I see people claiming (every 200 years apparently‽), it’s about every 10 years. The previous was 2010 and the next is 2027.

Well done, Herbie. Pebbles is such a lovely challenge but we've never seen that approach before! We've uploaded some examples of other children's work and teacher notes with the original problem here nrich.maths.org/48 @Facultymaths @CamEdFac
This week in Maths, Year 4 have been learning about area.
Today I set them a couple of really tough challenges to investigate area further.
Check out Herbie using his Lego to problem solve!
This particular challenge was based on the @nrichmaths pebbles problem.

Love that I can make games for my online middle school methods class on Polypad. Designed this game for today. Such fun and great opportunities for reasoning and estimating in upper elementary. Polypad – 3-Digit Targets mathigon.org/polypad/iRrbxnO… via @MathigonOrg
