Imagine being this envious of people who came as refugees. You want the privileges but not the struggle and sacrifices that built this resilience and success
Replying to @NiohBerg @Natsecjeff
The same in Europe. They give no visa to Iranians but all Africans can easily get visa and asylum and citizenship in just 3 years while for others takes at least 10 years

I can't get over how anti-Somali racism has reached such a level of psychosis that these people have deluded themselves into believing that Somalis of all people are ugly lmao. Just an echo chamber of racist memes supplanting any sense of reality.
Scrolled tiktok & came across a vid showing the ID of Somali male immigrants to the UK. 1910s/1920s etc. Read replies asking why the men aren’t good looking anymore and I wondered why people are lying though? I couldn’t even call the worst men in my extended family bad looking.

He doesn't know it yet… but one day, thousands in France will read his story, in his own words.
Forced to flee Darfur, Karam Hassan made a perilous journey through Egypt and across the Mediterranean, before seeking asylum in France.
Today, he is a manager at L'Oréal in Paris, a L’Oréal Ambassador and the founder and president of the association La Voix des Réfugiés. In his book "Un rêve plus loin", he tells his story.
Every refugee carries a story and talents. With a warm welcome and the right opportunities, they can rebuild their lives and make valuable contributions to the communities that host them.
Where's the Cameroonian Gen Z to remove this despote & his family from office? quite comical that local press in Cameroon report his long visit from Switzerland as foreign official visiting their country. Enjoying world class services in Switzerland while depriving his citizens
Paul Biya has been president of Cameroon since 1982. At the end of the term, he’ll be 99. Nearly half the country has known no other president.
Despite serving his eighth term, he appears to spend much of his time in Switzerland. wapo.st/4i1ce9V

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.
She’s unhappy when muslims don’t assimilate but when a Somali muslim woman assimilates to the point of becoming a government official who publicly upholds the laws of the country and proudly represents all her different constituents she’s still unhappy. A true self hating fraud

It's shameful how corruption has been normalized in #Somalia: FMS presidential aspirants are required to fund the very elections they contest. What accountability can we expect from someone who spends millions to secure office? First thing they’ll do is plunder state resources.
I'm always amazed @SeraGaid astute political analysis and how Somalia's security situation deeply fragmented. it's quite unfortunate that the current government which its mandate have long expired isn't listening to warnings from Somali security experts & stakeholders
Our Regional Security Analyst, @SeraGaid, joined The Horn, a podcast series by the @CrisisGroup, to discuss Somalia’s evolving security landscape, the possible end of UNSOS, and the growing shift toward bilateral security partnerships.
In our recent policy brief, No Time to Drift, Balqiis Insights argued that a negotiated transition compact was the most feasible path for managing Somalia’s security transition. That option may now be narrowing.
What comes next for Somalia as the country approaches another security transition deadline?
