My article on Rust is trending on HackerNews, and this time I didn't post it! Would anyone be interested in a video series on this?

Generated by the insanely powerful Echo-3 world model. Rendered by the open source PlayCanvas Engine. 🤝
We taught machines by taking everyone's data and now people are asking those machines how to stop the taking. I think that's poetic. AI redemption arc.

Introducing Kimi K3.1 Pro: our most capable 3T-class open-weight model.
🔹 1M-token context, 2.8T total / 104B active params (MoE), Multimodal.
🔹 Full-project coding: games in Unreal, Unity & Godot.
🔹 Excels at parametric 3D modeling in Blender & CAD.
🔹 More reliable at finance work: Accurate modeling with hallucination down by 65%.
🔹 Matching the strongest proprietary models across coding, agentic and knowledge benchmarks.
Kimi K3.1 Pro and K3.1 Pro Highspeed (2–3× faster) are now live on Kimi.ai, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API.
Open weights by Nov 4, 2026.

Should Europe leave frontier AI to the Americans and the Chinese?
The idea has gained ground in Europe. It is a fundamental mistake.
Build or surrender: for now, the choice is still ours.

Meet Mistral Large 4, aka Le Chonk.
• 1T parameters, natively multimodal. 49B active.
It is the best open weights model from US or Europe on aggregated benchmarks.
• State-of-the-art on critical workloads, including cyber defense, manufacturing and finance and it surpasses closed frontier models on visual grounding.
• Forged in Europe end-to-end and is deployable from Europe via our own Mistral Cloud infrastructure.
• Available to all via API today. Working with cybersecurity partners privately.
Open weights release end of October.

25 engineers ran a self-hosted open-weight model for one month, generating 13 billion tokens. But our trial continued running because people kept using it, unprompted.
Along the way, we uncovered real insights into owning our own AI infrastructure: cost, availability, model choice, data, and future capabilities, instead of depending entirely on external providers.

Self-hosted open-weight / open-source AI is very viable, we now have data.
Thanks to everyone advancing the "frontier" and specifically thanks to the @deepseek_ai for releasing such amazing models which we tested here.
We'll test more!
What happens when you give 25 engineers a self-hosted AI stack and leave it running?
Nearly 13 billion tokens later, @paritytech learned a lot about model choice, cost, capacity, and what AI infrastructure looks like when engineers control more of the stack.

I'm very sensitive to this feeling, cause I've been there.
Someone does something cool, gets a lot of attention, and you're frustrated cause you already did it, a while ago.
It's not enough to do things, you must also tell people.
Maybe it's not fair, but it's true

Did you know tiny models are capable of out-planning a database?
I trained a 4B model to produce 81% faster query plans than Postgres. Write-up below 👇

What's even more impressive is the massive amount of compute / free tokens that was deployed. Is this model running on custom chips? 👀
The new AI model that’s swept to the top of online usage charts with high performance at zero cost was created by China’s Z.AI, also known as Zhipu bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Confirmed, running on Chinese AI chips. 👀👀👀👀👀
