Trying to keep it simple, I think. Spending time outdoors and posting about it.

Going to use this thread as a running list of books I consider must reads. Adding to it whenever I feel. First one: Sailing Alone Around the World by Joshua Slocum (Written by Joshua Slocum on his journey to be the first single handed circumnavigation)

New piece out today. Discount to NAV idea with buybacks and dividends below NAV and demonstrated track record of: - Growing NAV per share. - Exiting investments at attractive MOIC / IRRs. - Returning Capital to shareholders in the form of buybacks and dividends. Cash. No debt.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. Everyone has different motivators. I was pretty fortunate to experience a lot of life and travel at a younger age. I got a lot of good perspective about who I was, why I am what I am, and where I’m headed. These things evolve as you age. I’m married now, no kids (yet), but I don’t think my answer has changed much over the last decade+. The purpose, the goal, the “why” really boils down to how I want to look back on my life when I’m in the fourth quarter of life. What kind of man was I? Was I kind? Was I patient? What did I stand for? I want to wake up in my later years and look back and feel that I lived my life well. Adventurous, persistent, grit, happy. It all ends one day. But you really do live beyond on your death. I think about my grandfather every day. His character, the man he was. That’s my why, I think. There’s truly few things that matter, that move the needle.
What is your purpose? Your goal? Why do you wake up every morning? Thinking about this a lot lately. (Yes, I am asking what your answer is.)

Going into 2027 and looking beyond that what stocks do you think are set up to perform well? Any interesting trades you’re putting on? Would love to hear.

For me, I really like managed care. I’m long $CI, $UNH, and $CNC currently. $CI the largest of the 3.

I also really like $ASTH in the same vein. $OMC I believe is undervalued. There’s a lot of attractive names out there frankly. Both small and large caps.

If you invest, even remotely based on fundamentals, the market is giving you the opportunity to buy an amazing business at a nonsensical valuation. $OMC It blows me away how little attention $OMC gets on here when it hits the boxes that many purport to find important.
$OMC another quarter of organic top line growth, profits and margins going up, shares outstanding going down. Synergies on track. Boring. Predictable. Resilient. ~6x 2028e FCF.

Someone who *actually* understands what this means, can you explain the ramifications of this?
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

Some things I’ve been looking at recently: $AAME trades @ ~5x (2025) EPS. 0.25x TBV. Bad corp gov. Thought it might go dark but just filed 2025 10k/a. Own minuscule amount for fun < $1.20/sh.

$OMC reports Oct 22. Pre acq, OMC was doing $1.5B FCF, IPG $1B. $2.5B combined. Subtract $120MM from divestitures = $2.38B run rate. 2026(e) cost synergies $900MM. Est. cost to get them $250MM. Assume 60% of $650MM savings drops to bottom line (FCF) = $390MM on top of $2,380.

Kospi down which means the net present value of small to mid cap insurers is rising.
