I am all for vigor, hard work, etc. But what if we were to shift education from testing centered to student centered. Instead of tracking, labeling, & focus on weaknesses, what if we develop their strengths? Imagine every child labelled as excelling with their strengths/talents!

State assessments should be cancelled for all schools immediately. We are now comparing apples to oranges when students are missing 3,4,5 weeks of school, maybe more. Remove that stress now! Put that in your bill and pass it! They will be even more useless than usual.

Teachers, our editors are putting together a beautiful free collection of day by day learning journeys based on our stories and videos, for kids at home due to school closings. We will have them ready next week. Good way to focus our energies during this chaotic time!

Noticed a player tonight (while scouting another kid). At halftime I called a coaching friend and told him he should keep an eye on him. By the end of the game I called him and told him ”nevermind” after sitting near the kid’s father. Parents, don’t ruin your kids’ opportunities.

I wrote Alfie with my fingers crossed that educators and students would find it...and when they do I feel very happy. Thank you!
Love how this story is told from different points of view - Perfect text to get Ss to experiment with POV in their writing. Also a good mentor for practicing for the MCAS narrative task. This book is in my coaching bag. @teerahater

While I support technology infused instruction, flexible seating, fine arts, STEM, robots, music and painting, and devices to present them, students need books to read. Lots of books and lots of time to read them.
