I woke up with the feeling that last night was a dream.
Our 20th Anniversary concert was the best show of our lives— not because we played well (though we did), but because of the love and warmth that filled the air.
It’s hard to put into words how moving it was to reunite on stage after so many years.
We will never forget the night we celebrated music, friendship, and our love for Japanese culture, surrounded by our families and friends.
Here’s to another 20 years of The Kyoto Connection.

On the 16th of August, Kyoto holds the final celebration of Obon (お盆), called the Goyama-Okuribi (五山送り火), literally "five-mountain farewell-fires." On five hillsides of Kyoto, you can see bonfire shapes, fueled by the curses and sad memories participants want to see vanquished from the world. Sufferers will write the names of their afflictions on gomaki (護摩木) wood to burn. With this, the obon season in Kyoto has finished.

Today is the Anniversary of the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima. In homes all around Japan, families stand in front of the television and honor a moment of silence in memory of the event.
Let’s not remember the day as an abstract mushroom cloud in grey film, but as the culmination of what hatred, anger and fear threatens to do to us. The higher we build the walls, the heavier they will be when they fall.

A single window glows in a sea of sleeping homes. Outside, the world is still, the snow quietly falling. But inside that lit room, someone is awake.
Maybe it’s a mother soothing a fevered brow in the early hours. Maybe she’s preparing breakfast before the city stirs. Maybe she simply hasn’t found the time to rest, because everyone else comes first.
This light is a tribute to all the mothers who shine quietly in the background. Who carry entire worlds without expecting recognition. Whose love burns softly but powerfully, unwavering, even in the coldest winters.
Today, we honor that light.
