The LaCAM is proud to have participated in the RISE Ebooks project for sharing stories accessible to deaf children in different sign languages. 1/3
We worked on the adaptation of "SARA E SPUMOSO: COVID-19" which explains the coronavirus to children. The text and illustrations are by Sorit Gupto and the adaptation was made possible thanks to the courtesy of African Storybook Initiative. 2/3
The story is signed in LIS (Italian Sign Language) by Luca Lamano with the advice of Tommaso Lucioli and translated into Italian by Olga Caperci and Cristiana Sanalitro. 3/3

We invite you to take part in our research project on LIS signs comprehension by hearing people that have no knowledge of that language.
We ask you to fill in an anonymous questionnaire (20min). Follow this link and read the instructions on the website: sites.google.com/view/resear…

Thanks @DingemanseMark for this nice pitch - really the gist of that study and this message resonates in our recently in press paper in İtalian Sign Language in Cognition - use of iconicity and simultaneity for efficient coomunication with @anitaslonimska @olgacapirci

With great regret we must announce that due to coronavirus alert, the Uni of Catania has just sent a notice that #SignCAFE2 Conference must be postponed. The new dates are yet to be decided (probably it could be the end of September/early October). We will keep you updated.

LIS signers (adults-kids) favour specific predicates over general ones (pick vs take). They favour action-based signs (hand-as-hand) over other iconic forms. This aligns with our work on silent gesture& sign learning & on importance of actions representations in manual modality
We are delighted to announce that the newest article from our lab by E. Tomasuolo, C.Bonsignori, P. Rinaldi, & V.Volterra on The representation of action in Italian Sign Language (LIS) : Cognitive Linguistics is out! degruyter.com/view/j/cogl.20…
