They told me body brokering wasn't real. – at Santa Monica, CA
A Los Angeles father and son are accused of using free flights and other incentives to recruit vulnerable patients nationwide, billing private insurers for sham treatment and, prosecutors say, placing some people in “trap houses” when their coverage was not enough.
The federal case puts a new spotlight on a system Westside neighborhoods have been watching for years.

👋🏼 attention Burbank—if you don't want your community to turn into a cesspool, do the opposite of what DSA wants.
They call anyone who wants public safety "far right," so just imagine what they have in store!
Live in LA county but not sure if these races are on your ballot?

That's why I always say, friends don't let friends vote for DSA (cough, Los Angeles, cough)

Don't hand LA back over to the DSA/Bonin/Gascon crowd. We already lived through that failed social experiment, and it was awful. We've worked too hard and come too far to go backwards.
LA Councilwoman Traci Park (@CouncilwomanTraciPark) shares updates on homelessness in Venice, LAPD/LAFD staffing, and her candid take on the LA mayoral race. Watch this clip and catch the full interview on #DeborahKobyltLIVE.

‼️ @dickclucas in just a couple minutes summarizes the homelessness crisis in @santamonicacity (& LA + CA in general) better than anyone every has.
A city of 90,000 being held hostage by 714 bums who get criminal IMMUNITY & $2 MILLION taxpayer-funded condos, destroying economy & city life, while neighboring Beverly Hills, Manhattan Beach & other cities figured out that vagrants don’t come if you arrest & prosecute crime and DON’T build free luxury housing for them.
This isn’t hard. And it’s not a difference in ideology - it’s a criminal issue. @ctorosis & @jessezwick & others on the city council are obviously part of a scheme to destroy the city in the name of homelessness so that their developer pals can buy the nicest land on earth for nothing.
These same people have destroyed the historic San Vicente Blvd coral trees (likely to build bus rapid transit in a single family residential area to upzone it to apartments), downtown parking structures (for luxury homeless housing), ice skating rink (more homeless housing), and plan to destroy more parking structures, Bergamot Station - largest public arts complex in the western U.S. (homeless and affordable housing), THE SANTA MONICA AIRPORT (allegedly a park but it’ll become 20,000 homeless housing units), and even the 10 FREEWAY as it cuts through the city. Meanwhile, the historic Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, an architectural masterpiece that once hosted the Oscars, has been sitting boarded up for years, because the council would LOVE to turn it into… HOMELESS HOUSING!!!!
They have taken out dozens of miles of traffic lanes on busy boulevards & reduced speed limits to 15-20 MPH to prevent careless homeless pedestrians from getting hit by cars. At every turn, while other cities create & improve, they destroy.
I pray that @USAO_LosAngeles @USAttyEssayli @billessayli @HUDgov @SecretaryTurner @FBILosAngeles come down HARD on these guys so we can restore sanity to this great place.
Enough is enough!
714: The number of people in Santa Monica "experiencing homelessness."
90,000: The number of people in Santa Monica experiencing the decline of Western Civilization.
Vote out mayor @ctorosis. Vote in @SMFSLanaNegrete, Trussler, and @Derrick_NOLA.

The promises about affordability that Democrats make are almost as scary as the prisoners they try to release early back into our communities.

Harm Reduction for Kids? 💩📚🧤
E. coli. Fecal coliform. On the tables and keyboards at Santa Monica's Main Library, where kids do homework, read, and attend story time. We spend $500,000 a year on sanitation for our libraries, yet the danger is still there.
The city calls it harm reduction when it funds services for adults on the street. Fine. But what about harm reduction for children? Maybe we hand out gloves at the door?
I'm not against helping people in need. The county built shelters and access centers for exactly that. Communuty public spaces are not shelters. A library is not a bedroom.
Santa Monica deserves leadership that protects both the vulnerable and the families who pay for these spaces. I'm Derrick Townsend, running for Santa Monica City Council.

DSA city council candidates in Burbank all pushing for increased rent stabilization.
Great summary of unintended consequences.
These NYC apartments are standing empty, not because the owners don't want to rent them, but because rent stabilization laws prohibit them from charging enough to earn back the costs of necessary repairs.
My latest for @WSJFreeEx

It’s been an honor I never could have imagined. Representing half a million people in the region where I grew up has been nothing short of miraculous. This experience in public service has made me a better person, and I’m deeply grateful for every person who has shaped this journey - from my constituents and all my colleagues and even the advocates. I’ll forever be thankful for the experience of a lifetime. 🙏🏽
The Assembly recently said farewell to @TomLackey36, the longest-tenured member of our current Republican Caucus.
His record of keeping our communities safe and standing up for victims and their families is second to none. He has an effective track record of working across the aisle to get the job done.
We'll miss you, Tom!

I'm proud to endorse @johnmckinney_
for LA City Attorney. He is a serious prosecutor, a thoughtful leader, and the partner we need on the Westside. LA will be lucky to have him!

Young Californians shouldn’t have to leave the state they grew up in just to afford a future.
We should be asking ourselves: Why are Democrats making it so difficult for the next generation to stay in California?
It’s time to focus on affordability, housing, economic opportunity, and policies that make it possible for young people to build a life here, not just survive here. 🌴

Democrats know what I keep telling you:
Republicans have the numbers to swing key races throughout California, including the LA Mayor’s race.
Republicans skipping these races will swing them to the radical Progressive candidate, and they know it that’s why they’re not talking about it.
Abstention is not neutral.
This weekend I put pen to paper on the political question that’s gonna decide a dozen or more congressional and legislative campaigns…
Oddly, most Dems have been fairly quiet about it, while Reps @FlashReport and @spencerpratt keep talking about it
