I was very glad to talk yesterday to @sitsio and @ChooseAgape__ about Fr James Mawdsley, the TLM, the Jews, Holocaust denial and fascism -- quite a stimulating set of issues! Thank you both for publishing the hour-long podcast video: link in reply.
Catholics had ceased to be a political threat in 1745. The Test Act was repealed as part of a process of dealing with Irish Catholics who were in danger of *becoming* a political threat.
The Test Act wasn’t repealed because Britain saw the light about toleration, but because Catholics were no longer a political threat
Should any religious minority in the UK ever seem to be prioritising the interests of co-religionists over the country as a whole, we should not hesitate to reinstate a Test Act

On the confusion about what the Rome Pilgrimage was and was not expecting, I can make a preliminary clarification (I intend to write at greater length before long): 1/5 @latinmassuk @LMSChairman @OnePeterFive @CatholicHerald @RealAdVaticanum @dianemontagna

Because the self-determination of a settler population, even after nearly 200 years, counts for nothing? Is this really where Israel wants to go?
Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israel to support Argentina over the Falklands, The Telegraph can reveal.
The Israeli prime minister told diplomats to change his country’s official position and join Buenos Aires in calling for direct talks over the future of the islands.

This is — let’s not forget — one of the great churches of Christendom. We are having — not what I expected — Pontifical Low Mass, not High Mass. (With music, as is usual on these occasions.)

We’re not operating a ‘strategy’ (to achieve what?). Preserving the Church’s liturgical traditions is important because they have value in themselves and for the good of souls. Persecute us all you want, we’re not giving up.
Again, as I told you before, and you didn't want to hear it, the trad program is over. It is finished. Find another program. That strategy, and all of the ostentatious and outsized noise centered on it, will not be allowed.
Those of you who enjoyed it may not have wanted to hear what I told you about the pitfalls of employing this strategy, but the fact of its failure is now unavoidable.
Again, I beg you, shift to some other strategy of reform within union with the Church before you waste all remaining social and emotional capital trying to keep the ghost of 2007 present for the 10 to 30 years it might take to achieve some alternative renewal of something someone is willing to call traditionalism. Benedict flew off in a helicopter and never came back one day. You have had no other patron since. It's over.

DDF yesterday: "Particular care should also be taken to enable the faithful in every diocese... to encounter the various liturgical sensibilities present within the tradition of the Catholic Church."
Today: TLM pilgrims banned from St Peter's.
Total madness.

According to organizers of the annual ‘Summorum Pontificum’ pilgrimage , the decision was communicated in a recent letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State

As the organiser of the Mass on the right I reject the proposed contrast. @latinmassuk like diocesan priests and the Institutes celebrate the TLM is all kinds of churches and with the resources available. In fact I suspect that the music at the Mass on the right was more … 1/
splendid than at the one of the left. But because the pilgrimage had to move venues as short notice I was unable to get the scared ministers necessary for Missa Solemnis; if I had I would have got special vestments. It is not that @latinmassuk has a puritanical attitude … 2/
nor indeed does the priest here who is a fine musician and is wearing an ‘apparelled amice’. IFYYK 1st don’t read too much into to an image which reflects complex circumstances. 2, don’t make the best the enemy of the good. 3, let us have the TLM in every church, using the full range of furnishings and styles if these are worthy of the altar. /End

In his latest for @CatholicHerald, LMS Chairman Dr Joseph Shaw (@LMSChairman) discusses the case of Fr Chad Ripperger, his response to Archbishop James Golka of Denver, and the pressures that fame can place on priests and lay apologists
"Other Catholic celebrities have been less careful about keeping up appearances, and a number of celebrity priests have come a cropper simply for becoming too fond of the high life, or becoming convinced that their message is more important than their vow of obedience"

Black woman works hard, contributes, employs people, and then has to argue with white guilty people to say that the looters are wrong.
White guilt is destroying the West.
We need to wake up and realise this.

Fr Chad Ripperger’s response to his archbishop has been exemplary, but his case illustrates the pressures that fame can place on priests and lay apologists alike.

Some photos from the @latinmassuk Oxford Pilgrimage last Saturday. A Sung TLM took place in Holy Rood, Abingdon Rd, a modern church, but then the Church's liturgical patrimony is for everyone, and everywhere. 1/
Our return trip, to Holy Rood, took us through the Westgate shopping centre itself, as we transitioned from the Te Deum to 'God Bless Our Pope'. Onlookers are consistently interested and some make the sign of the cross. 6/
