Nevertheless we are grateful for what we have been given. Our desire is not to score points off the Holy Father, but to show our devotion to him, to the Papacy, and to the See of St Peter. End/

I (Joseph Shaw, @LMSChairman ) will be doing some live tweeting on this account, of the events of the pilgrimage. I’ll arrange them as replies to this post.
Preparing for the first event of the Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage (‘Summorum Pontificum’) with the Pax Liturgica conference. It takes place in the Augustinianum, right next to the massive pillars of St Peter’s Square. @OnePeterFive @latinmassuk

I’m told there were 800 people on the procession and 1,500 at Mass. On my walk away from St Mary Major I popped into an interesting-looking church which turned out to have the tomb of St Benedict Joseph Labre — he collapsed on the very steps and died in a nearby house. S. Maria ad Montes. That’s Tome for you.

I’ve made a preliminary statement about the changes to the pilgrimage events:
On the confusion about what the Rome Pilgrimage was and was not expecting, I can make a preliminary clarification (I intend to write at greater length before long): 1/5 @latinmassuk @LMSChairman @OnePeterFive @CatholicHerald @RealAdVaticanum @dianemontagna

LATEST: Bishop Schneider in Saint Mary Majors Basilica prays for the Liturgical Unity of the Ordinary and Extraordinary and for the Liberation of the Old Rite: “O Mary, Mother of God, O Queen of the Roman See, O Queen of Peace, bring us the olive branch from the hand of the Christ Child, heralding the advent of the liturgical reform, which will ensure the full and unrestricted use of the traditional Roman rite, so that we may once again experience that the Roman Church is our mother. Amen."

Some theories are circulating online about the Latin Mass pilgrimage, spread by people unconnected with it. Some clarity below — Organisers asked for permission for the Vatican Mass, via a letter delivered directly to Pope Leo by Bishop Schneider in December. The pilgrimage is in its 15th year, and is always held on the same date. Organisers received no answer about the Mass until August, when the Secretariat of State replied to say they could not have Mass in the Vatican. Pilgrimage organisers then announced publicly that no Mass would take place in the Vatican. Instead, pilgrims would process into the Vatican at 1pm on the Saturday, and then go to St Mary Major for a 3pm Mass. Permission for the procession into the Vatican was granted in April 2026. Weeks after this, in September, St Peter’s announced an event taking place at 3:30pm at the Altar of the Chair (used by the pilgrimage last year for Mass). Then this week – just yesterday I am told – organisers received another letter from the Secretariat of State informing them they could not even process into the Vatican as planned, and as permitted since April. Basilica events are not the prerogative of the Secretariat but of the Archpriest & the Fabric of St Peter’s: hence why the Secretariat of State’s involvement is so strange. On Saturday, pilgrims walked through the streets up to the obelisk in St. Peter’s Square – accompanied by Italian state police – where they were stopped by the Vatican as this was the limit of the Italian police’s jurisdiction. Then they were informed that their usage of St Mary Major’s had changed: they could only be inside for an hour. Thus meaning that the planned and authorised pontifical solemn Mass would have to be a low Mass. Also St Mary Major’s informed pilgrimage that no official photos could be taken

‘I asked a Vatican security official what he thought of the group. He said: “Very beautiful and peaceful.”’ -@dianemontagna
LATEST: A few photos from today’s ‘Summorum Pontificum’ pilgrimage. Vatican and Italian security allowed pilgrims to enter the square as far as the obelisk, but as reported yesterday, the Vatican Secretariat of State barred the procession from entering St. Peter’s Basilica to pray at the tomb of St. Peter. I asked a Vatican security official what he thought of the group. He said: “Very beautiful and peaceful.”

People are talking about the medical necessity of abortion to save the mother's life. I was one of those mothers. I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that was cutting off my airway at 20 weeks of pregnancy. I will never forget when the first doctor, an oncologist, mentioned abortion. We had gone thru years of infertility to get pregnant. I knew I would rather die and give birth. Then I met with another doctor who listed all of the problems the baby would have if I did not terminate. I stood my ground and refused. He said, "That is ok. The baby will probably spontaneously abort anyway." I searched and found good doctors that supported me, and I gave birth to a healthy baby at 34 weeks. I will be celebrating 10 years cancer free in May. I have a healthy, beautiful, bright, precious 10 year old daughter who is a living reminder that doctors do not know everything” - Sarah Hull

All of these Catholics are in good standing, in communion with the Holy Father, and have no affiliation with the @SSPXEN -TSF
.@messainlatino notes that the pilgrims are “faithful from various dioceses from many parts of the world,” barred from the same basilica where Anglican archbishop Sarah Mullally and a Muslim recently prayed, where in 2019 “idolaters of Pachamama entered triumphantly,” and where last year a pilgrimage of LGBT activists was welcomed during the Jubilee, and allowed to parade rainbow flags. It adds that today’s pilgrims “are in no way whatsoever part of the Society of St. Pius X, nor are they affiliated with or sympathizers of the Society.”

A lot of people are upset by homosexual groups being welcome at St. Peter’s, but not Traditionalists. Don’t be. The last Pontificate was trapped in 1968, and reflected the brutality of that era. This one has advanced us to 1975 - the Golden Age of Dignity and Uncle Ted McCarrick. Our next Pope will be a product of the John Paul II era, his successor of Benedict’s golden days. When we have a Pope who pursued his vocation despite Pope Francis, we’ll get back to saving Souls. Or at least the hierarchy will; we shouldn’t, and I just don’t have the time to wait!

Read this text for an inside look at the narrative being told about traditionalists in the Vatican. We must convince all prelates of good will, and the Holy Father, that we do not seek to instrumentalise the TLM against the Church.
