Sunlight on Demand, ordered like an Uber. Someone is building mirrors in space to sell you sunlight at night. The company is Reflect Orbital, a startup from California. The idea is a satellite with a huge thin mirror that can still see the sun after it has set where you are. It tilts and bounces that light down onto one spot on the ground. The main customer they want is solar farms. Those stop working at sunset, right when everyone gets home and puts the kettle on. They also talk about lighting up disaster zones at night. Living in Glasgow, where it's dark before 5pm in November, I can see why "sunlight on demand" sounds nice. But the first satellite only promises light about as bright as a full moon, over a patch about 5 km wide, for a few minutes at a time. Astronomers ran the numbers from the company's own filing and say that's nowhere near enough to run a solar farm. The long-term plan is 50,000 of these by 2035. Astronomers are already pushing back hard, and I get why. I want to see one actually light up a field from orbit before I buy the solar farm story. Links reply:

I used to hate this part of cloud agents Small Claude Code update for Pro and Max users that I think people will sleep on. Cloud sessions now build their own environment to run your app/project by installing the missing dependencies needed for your project etc . Sounds dull. It's the update I'm most excited about this week. Picture Amina on a train with only her phone. Her manager wants this week's weather report from her small Python app. Before: she opens a cloud session and types "run the app". It fails. Weather API blocked, no API key. Claude can tell her what's wrong but can't fix it. So she's on a tiny screen writing a setup script and adding her API key by hand. One typo and it breaks again. She gives up and waits until she's home. Now: same message. Claude sees what's missing and builds an environment for the app on its own eg. Missing dependencies and install them . It saves the install steps, so next time the session starts ready. She taps approve and adds her key once as a network secret. Claude can use the key but never sees it. Report done before her stop. My doubt: I haven't tried it on a messy real project yet, and for now it can only create 10 environments. Still, setup was always where cloud agents lost me.
