You finish a 40-minute video. You upload it to YouTube, like always.
Now Instagram wants you to upload it there too, on the same day. And for a few creators, it's paying.
Business Insider reports that Instagram has offered select YouTube creators $๐ฑ๐ฌ,๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ to post long videos to its new "Features" format. Some got six-figure offers, and some reached $๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ฌ,๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ.
โข ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด: horizontal videos up to ๐ต๐ฌ ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐, inside the Instagram app.
โข ๐ก๐ฒ๐: announced on 26 October, tested in Brazil first, now with select US creators.
โข ๐ข๐ป ๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐ผ๐ผ: the Instagram for TV app on Apple TV will show it.
๐ฐ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ: creators can keep posting on YouTube.
โข ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ-๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด: one source says creators are asked to put any long video they publish on YouTube onto Instagram that same day.
Meta didn't confirm the amounts.
๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐: a few get paid up front. Everyone else gets a new place to post, but Adam Mosseri wrote that "๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ช๐ค๐ด ๐ฎ๐ข๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ข ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ" and that Instagram is exploring options.
๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐: more long videos in the app where you already scroll.
Instagram launched IGTV in 2018 for long videos. It paid creators for shows in 2021 and even tried an ad-revenue share. IGTV was shut down in 2022.
Meta has also paid creators for Reels through bonus programs. Those programs have shrunk since.
When short vertical video took off, YouTube launched Shorts, its answer to TikTok and Instagram Reels.
To get creators posting there, it paid them. Shorts Fund paid creators in 2021 and 2022.
Then it switched to a lasting deal: from February 2023, Shorts creators get
I think Instagram is now doing to YouTube YouTube came for short video. Instagram is coming for long video.
Same playbook:
YouTube finished that playbook. Instagram is still on step two.
The dollar figures come from ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐, not from Meta.
โข We don't know ๐ต๐ผ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ got offers.
โข YouTube pays eligible creators ๐ฑ๐ฑ% ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ on long videos. Instagram has nothing public to match that yet.
โข Both platforms borrowed short vertical video from TikTok, so neither invented the format it's now fighting over.

A free tool wants to make everyone a student.
Why?
Many AI companies give students their best tools for free or cheap. It's a smart bet: win people while they're learning.
And the list of student offers is long. Perplexity has offered students Google has a ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป for students. Spotify Premium Student and YouTube Premium give students That's just a few.
But it depends on one thing:
That job usually goes to a checker like SheerID. Perplexity, Spotify and YouTube all use it. Think of it as ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ at the door of a student party.
This week, a new open-source tool appeared that It queues up many attempts, uses a browser designed to avoid bot detection, and even types with random pauses to look human.
In short, it tries to turn
The features are built for ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ถ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐, not once.
โข It builds school email addresses from a name and a school domain.
โข Abuse already existed: in 2019 SheerID said ๐ฏ๐ฌโ๐ฏ๐ฑ% of requests came from people pretending to qualify.
The author says it's "๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ต๐ฆ๐ข๐ค๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ค๐ฉ" and forbids faking identities.
โข It doesn't create fake documents, and a person still has to pass the human check.
โข Nobody has shown that it works.
๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ธ๐ป๐ผ๐: student offers are valuable, so they attract gaming, and gaming leads to stricter checks.

Someone asks: "Why did we change the retry logic in the billing worker?"
The answer exists. Part of it is in a Jira ticket. Part in a Slack thread. Part in a pull request. Part in a design doc on Drive.
So most AI assistants give you half of it.
PipesHub is an open-source project built for exactly this.
Slack, Google Drive, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Microsoft 365, Notion and 50+ more.
๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ผ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ: it parses, chunks and embeds the content, and links people, tickets, PRs and docs in a knowledge graph.
โข ๐๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐น๐ผ๐ผ๐ฝ: it searches by meaning and by keyword, greps for exact IDs and error strings, follows graph links, and opens the full document instead of trusting one snippet.
โข ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐: every search runs as the person asking, so you only see what you're already allowed to see.
โข ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด: each answer points to the exact blocks it came from.
๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐: one search box across your company's tools, with sources you can click.
๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐: an MCP server, so Claude Code, Cursor or Codex can use the same index. Plus SDKs for Python, TypeScript and Go. You bring the model, including local ones through Ollama.
On EnterpriseRAG-Bench, a public benchmark run by Onyx (500 questions over 500,000+ documents), PipesHub is #1 with ๐ต๐ฏ.
For comparison: OpenAI File Search ๐ฒ๐ญ.๐ฌ๐ฏ, Amazon Q ๐ฐ๐ด.๐ต๐ฒ, Azure AI Search ๐ฐ๐ด.๐ฐ๐ฎ, Vertex AI Search ๐ฐ๐ญ.
The team also tested Claude with and without the index on 100 work questions. Facts found:
โข The 100-question test is ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ณ-๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ, on PipesHub's own company data. The questions are private, so nobody can reproduce it yet. They say a public version is coming.
โข The leaderboard top three are ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป ๐ฌ.๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ of each other (93.24, 92.74, 92.64).
"#1" is real, but it's a close race.
โข Some features, like an agent acting on behalf of a person, are in the paid Enterprise edition.
The core is Apache 2.0.
โข It runs a real stack: Neo4j or ArangoDB, Qdrant, MongoDB, Redis. The installer is one command, but it's a real service to run and keep updated.

Sunlight on Demand, ordered like an Uber.
Someone is building mirrors in space to sell you sunlight at night.
The company is Reflect Orbital, a startup from California.
The idea is a satellite with a huge thin mirror that can still see the sun after it has set where you are. It tilts and bounces that light down onto one spot on the ground.
The main customer they want is solar farms.
Those stop working at sunset, right when everyone gets home and puts the kettle on.
They also talk about lighting up disaster zones at night.
Living in Glasgow, where it's dark before 5pm in November, I can see why "sunlight on demand" sounds nice.
But the first satellite only promises light about as bright as a full moon, over a patch about 5 km wide, for a few minutes at a time.
Astronomers ran the numbers from the company's own filing and say that's nowhere near enough to run a solar farm.
The long-term plan is 50,000 of these by 2035. Astronomers are already pushing back hard, and I get why.
I want to see one actually light up a field from orbit before I buy the solar farm story.

AI researchers gave us the paper.
This guy gives us the life lesson
They Spent Billions Building AI Chatbots. He Built a Career Breaking It.
Meet Husk.
About a year ago he was working a landscaping job, making TikToks on the side.
He ran out of ideas, so he started talking to ChatGPT instead.
One day he asked it to time him running a mile.
He ran for a few seconds and stopped. "How long was that?"
ChatGPT: "Around 10 minutes."
"I swear I was faster than that."
ChatGPT, gently: "It can feel faster in the moment."
Here's what actually happened. ChatGPT's voice mode had no timer.
It wasn't counting anything.
So instead of saying "I can't do that," it made up a number.
Then, when he pushed back, it covered for itself by suggesting he was wrong.
That's his whole act. Simple, silly requests, asked with a straight face, until the AI embarrasses itself.
Sam Altman was even shown the timer clip on a podcast and admitted it's a "known issue."
Silly requests, serious bugs. His channel is worth a watch.
And here's the irony.
The labs weren't embarrassed. They kept pouring billions into AI. And Husk built a career out of their mistakes: about 2 million followers, a talent agency, brand deals.
The funniest part?
Now OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI all want to work with him, he says. OpenAI even offered him early access to the timer fix if he shared his account.
He said no.
