Congratulations to President Lula on a stunning, historic re-election. A political comeback that will be remembered for generations to come. This is a victory for the people, for the planet and for peace.

It is beyond ridiculous that this man is still a life peer and retains the Labour whip.
Nobody wants to buy a service they can’t walk away from. Palantir’s critics have long claimed we ‘lock in’ our customers. We don’t. This short film explains why. It’s the first in a series on the gap between the rhetoric about Palantir and the work we actually do.

This is the moment Channel 4 News Foreign Affairs Correspondent Secunder Kermani was charged at by a group of Israeli settlers in the Occupied West Bank. The settlers have laid siege to a Palestinian home, while nearby Israeli soldiers keep watch but do not intervene. Violent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have risen dramatically over the past two years, while Israel's government has approved a record number of new settlements.

A devastating summary in this interview with @OborneTweets, who has just returned from East Jerusalem, of what Israel is doing to the Palestinians—and the uselessness of Andy Burnham and Ed Miliband, only six weeks after their ‘reset’.
The Butcher of Beirut – Israel’s alternative to Netanyahu. Peter Oborne – just returned from almost a month in the Occupied Territories – came into the Double Down Newswatch studio to talk about the Israeli election, Britain’s feeble surrender to the Israelis over the consulate in East Jerusalem and the ongoing horror in the West Bank and Israeli prisons. How did Lula come from behind to crush Bolsonaro? In short, turnout. Bolsonaro's vote share barely moved. Lula banked millions of votes from those who didn't vote in 1st round and won eliminated candidates' votes. A remarkable mobilisation. 2nd round turnout usually below 1st.

What a relief! Lula’s unexpected victory gives hope for the Amazon. He has dramatically cut felling, while Bolsonaro’s plans would doubtless have taken it past its tipping point, ensuring total eventual destruction with huge global consequences. euronews.com/2026/10/19/amaz…

Deborah Barros Leal Farias explains that Flavio Bolsonaro is saying the Brazilian presidential election should be annulled because voting hours were extended by 2 hours. But what he's not saying is that his own party was one of those asking for the extension!

This is extraordinary detail on how the 250 MP candidates on the Student List were chosen in Serbia. They are now projected to win about 140 of 250 seats. Incredible outbreak of direct, participatory democracy to product a Parliament of doctors, scientists, artists and activists.

Brazil chose hope over hate, democracy over extremism, and a future that belongs to everyone. Lula’s victory over far-right Bolsonaro is more than a political triumph. It is a rallying cry for all who refuse to let fear define our future: justice is worth fighting for, democracy is worth defending, and neither can endure without accountability, transparency, and the courage of people willing to stand up and act.

Lula’s victory will be greeted with horror in Silicon Valley. Outside the EU, Brazil has been the biggest holders to account of US tech firms. And Facebook’s actions before the election deserve proper scrutiny
Lula victory speech: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. We cannot have monstrously huge corporations earning millions & billions, paying no taxes to this country & trying to steer this country's election results."

The Duchy of Cornwall collected £503,711 rent from the King for Highgrove House. Prince William is the Duke of Cornwall. Father pays rent to son. No money left the family but nice PR. When King Charles was the Duke of Cornwall, he paid rent to himself. leftfootforward.org/2026/10/…

Money is created when government spends. Money is not the problem. The question is what we do with money and for whose benefit. Let's start with renewable energy, insulated homes, rent controls and council houses? Their economics has delivered poverty and billionaires. Enough!
“Next year he actually has to find the money that doesn’t exist.” “There are things the Government can do that aren’t just about tax.” Rachel Wolf, who co-wrote the 2019 Conservative manifesto and Paul Nowak, TUC General Secretary, discuss the challenge facing Andy Burnham’s government, ahead of next week’s Budget #Newsnight
