Gaston County high school student: "If you vote to keep [the Confederate statue], my generation will remove it and your generation will go down as the one that fought to uphold a racist system." Man, I miss my HS classroom!

What a shame and sham that Trump can still run for president as a felon while most incarcerated felons can't vote at all. – at Washington, DC

One of the challenges to writing and teaching about racism is getting people to understand that what we see is not race. Rather, it's how power via laws (racism) gives meaning to phenotypical features producing what we see as "race."
Incredible recognition for an amazing scholar, researcher, and mentor to many. Congratulations @drnatalieking !!

THREE NINE YEAR OLD KIDS WERE MACHINE GUNNED TO DEATH AT SCHOOL AND TENNESSEE'S GOP IS EXPELLING THE DEMOCRATS STANDING FOR THOSE CHILDREN.
You had better believe I am shouting.
What is disorderly is a body that has used voter suppression and rigged maps to take over our state. Are you listening? @NCGOP @NCLeg
Rep. Justin Jones, one of three Democrats up for expulsion for participating in a gun control protest in the Tennessee legislature, was questioned by Rep. Johnny Garrett whether his actions were disruptive.

What is happening in TN is a failure of democracy & justice.
There is no way to spin the expulsion of duly elected representatives as right or just.
Dissent, non-violent protest, & critiques of our institutions are part of a healthy democracy.

When the questioner misstates a well known cry for justice… and @brotherjones_ response is a master class. #nojusticenopeace #MarchForOurLives

A Republican state representative asked Rep. Justin Jones what he means by the chant “No Justice, No Peace.”
His response is worth hearing in full:
We need a children’s bill of rights ~ and one for their teachers. #BanAssaultWeapons

As a veteran HS teacher & grad student/instructor at UNCC when we joined “the club” it shouldn’t surprise me that we now have adults reporting on school shootings who themselves survived school shootings… but somehow it does. #BanAssaultRifles

In her closing keynote, Dr. Megan Bang urges folks to think of our work as a migration and a trading of knowledge to other places, rather than conceptualizing in terms of "scaling up" #LSGSC22
