The Arabs have been accusing Israel of genocide since before the genocide convention During the drafting process of the genocide convention, Arab states tried to have the definition be drafted in such a way as to be able to call the Yishuv genocidal It's always been bad faith
“You take the victim and make the victim the perpetrator.” I hear versions of this argument a lot but it doesn’t make any sense. No category of person is fixed through history as one or the other. Many (most?) have taken a turn as both victim and perpetrator depending on context.

We're at the "Jews shouldn't have been allowed to buy land from wealthy Lebanese and Turkish landowners" stage of the discourse That seems wildly bigoted, if you ask me
Maybe they should have settled someplace that wasn't owned by other people.

What really matters (to Irish voters). Triple what?
As usual, just a handful of matters concern the Irish electorate. Issues that get lots of media/political attention, such as Gaza and united Ireland, barely register with people. From today's Ireland Thinks poll

Vatnik Soup thread on Fergie Chambers attached. Pictured below is Chambers in Dublin in a 'Bomb Tel Aviv' T- Shirt with two Palestinian Students Abhubaker Abed and Abdulruhman Ismail. @OCallaghanJim
In today’s Vatnik Soup, we introduce James “Fergie” Chambers, an American communist, tankie and heir to the Cox fortune. He’s best known for bankrolling revolutionary causes, cheering Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and supporting Hamas. 1/24

Some authors are planning to give money directly to Sally Rooney to show "solidarity" So this is like just a cash grab for her?

Samuel Beckett had lifelong relationships with numerous Jewish and Zionist writers and artists, including in Israel where he was particularly close to Avigdor Arikha, a Holocaust survivor and painter Also of note, "Waiting for Godot" was first performed in Tel Aviv in 1955 and has been performed regularly since
Samuel Beckett, Banville’s greatest literary influence, was a member of the French Resistance, but then Beckett was a lot of things John Banville will never be 💅

When we talk about antizionism in Ireland, we must speak about the cruel bullying and intimidation tactics used by "pro-Palestinian" activists to silence debate and to force conformity Fortunately, more people, both in Ireland and around the world, are noticing how these activists operate; namely, not as principled humanitarians, but as a bigoted, provincial mob of angry pitchfork-wielding peasants All it takes is a few courageous people to look the antizionist mob straight in the eyes and say: NO

Those of us, myself included, who were targets of Gillick's anti-Jewish abuse on this platform, will never forget how he initially claimed that his account was "hacked" and that he wasn't responsible for the antisemitic content And how so many people, so many "humanitarians," were willing to accept his obvious lies Message to the anonymous Irish accounts that engage in antisemitic incitement on a daily basis: one day, you cowards will be exposed as well Tick tock

Seriously. Not the only case of a Beltway has-been selling out to Qatari money. Pathetic!
Sad to see the once great William Bennett, editor of such classics as “The Book of Virtues,” spend the twilight of his life as a propagandist for a jihadist dictatorship.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but Coates is legitimately not very bright But he thinks he is saying something very profound, rather than regurgitating Soviet propaganda Therein lies the heart of the problem
We hosted a landmark conversation between Ta-Nehisi Coates, Tareq Baconi and Nesrine Malik at London's Southbank Centre this week. You can watch the whole event here: youtube.com/watch?v=652EVCK1…

The absolute paranoid delusion on display here is breathtaking to behold Believing that Israel is "hostile" to Ireland is absurd. Israel fully recognizes Ireland's right to exist Furthermore, Ireland isn't remotely a campaign issue in Israel's democratic elections; whereas in Ireland, academics & politicians are constantly libeling and slandering the world's only Jewish State, sometimes tripping over one another to see whose words can be the most inflammatory
I wasn't aware that any foreign power is hostile to us. Except maybe Israel. Is 'hostile' defined? Is there a list?

Literally, no Israeli politician is campaigning against Ireland. In Ireland, plenty of politicians campaign on their opposition to "Zionism" and Israel's very existence.
