Two days until the Budget announcement, which will shape the next twelve months for British energy tech. We need to back programmes that work, like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. It's already helped the industry scale massively, so heat pumps get cheaper to build, are made in the UK, reach more homes and create more meaningful jobs (~500x more than Jackdaw!) The demand is there, with hundreds of thousands of people getting in touch about heat pumps over the past 18 months. In April the government also made the scheme easier to access by extending it to 2030 and cutting the red tape that held people back, so more households can make the switch. A decade of backing EVs made China the world’s electric car powerhouse. Here, driving electric already costs a fraction of diesel per mile. Give heat pumps that same runway and next success story on smarter, better, cleaner energy tech could be made here 🇬🇧
