Today in @tecmns call we had @LexBirdie shared their knowledge about hand signals and provided us with an enlightening workshop about how we can improve our non-verbal communication on every call we are in. Here is the full document and reference: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

Reminder: the atomic unit of community is relationships. It doesn’t matter what platform you use. If you’re helping people build relationships with each other, you’re building community.

how will web3 design better incentive structures for contributors? are we creating a cohort of undervalued (underpaid and undertokenized) contractors spread thin across multiple projects?

Arrive with hands empty. Give of yourself. Trust that you will receive. Join in the creation of community.

To be in community is to be interdependent; dependent on certain nodes of your community, with people you rely on and could not survive or accomplish your vision without. An excess of money can buy us out of this essential network via inappropriate independence and isolation.

Hello there! I see you working to get to the root of the problems. I see you having to dig deep, within yourself and what you know. It's better to address the deeper issues than to keep fighting the surface ones, and I'm so glad you're doing it. Keep doing great!

This feels really relevant to my journey of trying to understand why a lot of the people in my social circles whom I view as the type of people I’m building for, vehemently and actively hate crypto and anything remotely related to it. Despite holding very similar values as me.
i would probably 1) dislike crypto more if i was less aware of the software being built and 2) not engage in shaping it if i thought there wasn't so much at stake

Thinking a lot lately about the role that narrative plays in our coordination efforts. From the macro narrative of web3’s collective mission — to the micro narrative of a single community’s onboarding journey.
I have been idly playing w a couple ideas today: 1. Narrative is a physical force in the universe, as real as gravity or velocity 2. The reason our psychology is so strange and complex is because we evolved the best possible interface for working with the narrative force

Hard yes. One of the biggest gifts from my time at SourceCred was the opportunity to shift from a mindset of “⏱ = 💵” to: how should I value my contribution/expertise/potential impact? I’m not in web3 because I want to get paid/hr and sell my time to a new set of authorities.
Why haven't we seen good bounty systems in DAOs? -> Bounties so far have just been designed with a time for $ logic But what people look in DAOs today is a, new, social work experience If its just about the money then i'm better off contracting through gig platforms

To launch a new channel in your community is to launch a new community. That channel now needs to be grown, engaged, and moderated. Don't take the decision to launch new channels lightly.

Get tolerant with the discomfort of having no clue what’s going on, and reaching anyway. Take at least one opportunity you feel only 60% qualified for and make up the difference as you go. Build resilience to the fear that you don’t belong here, and stay anyway.
Gm ☀️ If you could give newbies entering the web3 space one piece of advice - what would it be? 👀🍿 We’ll start ⬇️

Especially (tho not only) women/enbys are taught to accept only the opportunities we’re 99.9% qualified for. The day I truly jumped into web3 was the day I tried trusting my ability to grow and learn. Trusting my coworker’s trust in me. It was a day that changed my life forever.

Very uncomfortable. I sat in so many meetings I didn’t understand, but with every meeting I gained context. I built so many things I was afraid would fail. A lot of them did, but the learning was essential. More than that, freeing. Now, even I can’t deny the expertise I inhabit.

We gather in different ways for different purposes. Most commonly — networks, audiences, fandoms, and communities. It's important to know what is what and how hey differ. Don't worry — I made a guide! #100DaysOfCommunity ↓

Where is web3 perpetuating profit maximization through spawning and consuming new markets for personal gain - and - where is it letting go of the need for more by generating space for people to give to each other again? 2/2
