A legend among legends.
Today marks the 40 years since Sir Alex Ferguson began his glorious association with Manchester United ❤️
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivers a blunt message to Russia:
“You cannot bomb Ukrainian cities and then send your junior players to Alberta to play hockey as if you were civilised people.
No Russian or Belarusian teams at the World Junior Championship. Not under your flags. Not under any other flags. Period.”

This is economic illiteracy of a high order.
After separation Scotland would still use sterling. So it would have to borrow in £s to cover its massive budget deficit and promise lenders it would pay back in £s (or they won’t lend).
But after an unspecified transition it would move to a Scottish currency. But all the borrowing done during the transition would have to be paid back in sterling.
If the Scottish currency plummeted v sterling (likely given the size of the deficit, lack of credit track record etc) that could become an unmanageable burden given the likely poor exchange rate.
Scotland would have to borrow billions in its own currency just to convert to sterling to pay back lenders. Devaluing the Scottish currency further.
What a shambles that would be.
He has no idea what he’s talking about.

A moment that captures how we all felt on October 7.
After clearing Kfar Aza of Hamas terrorists, a team of Israeli commandos entered a family’s home and found fresh challah rolls laid out on the table, waiting for Shabbat morning.
One of the soldiers broke down in tears, realizing the family would never gather at the table, join together, and eat them.
Three years of unimaginable loss and pain, but never forget how this war began.

There’s no other explanation for pro-Pals to do a march today. Of all days. They’re telling the world that they support Hamas and relish the murder of Jews. Yet the authorities do nothing. It’s sickening.
🚨"I think they're marching to CELEBRATE what happened on 7th October"
Heidi Bachram, whose family members were murdered by Hamas Islamist terror attacks on 7th October explains the horror she finds at people marching in support of what happened.

🛑Former Hamas hostage Avinatan Or recounts what one of his Hamas captors told him just before his release:
“Go home. Say hello to your father, to your mother. Meet your friends. Then pack a bag and go to Europe. You know why? Because we’re going to do October 7 again. As long as there is one Jew in the Land of Israel, we will massacre you again and again and again.”
Avinatan looked at him and answered:
“I’m not leaving.”
Three years after October 7, listen carefully to those words. This is what Hamas told an Israeli hostage after more than two years in captivity.
And Avinatan’s answer says everything:
This is our home. We are not leaving

It's VERY IMPORTANT we hide away the disabled man from the awards ceremony regarding the film that goes into excruciating detail about how miserable his life has been due to his disability and how if we were all a bit more accepting and tolerant the world would be a better place.
After "I Swear" scored seven BAFTA Scotland nominations, the British Academy has said Tourette's campaigner John Davidson will watch the ceremony "via video link from a separate relaxed space within the venue."
BAFTA and Davidson were at the center of controversy in February when he involuntarily shouted a racial slur at the Film Awards. variety.com/2026/film/global…

SNP bans many food promotions from Thursday.
From meal deals and multi-buys - like ‘3 for £10’ and ‘BOGOF’ offers - to cakes, biscuits, morning goods, ice cream, desserts, chips and pizza. The list is long.
Bang in the middle of a cost of living crisis. What a clown-show 🎪

People have always stood with the innocent people of Palestine. The issue is that leaders in the region have failed to stand up to Hamas, while speaking as though Israel has acted in a vacuum. You’re doing the same here, and I find it both depressing and deeply dishonest.
“We hear you.” UK Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband, speaking at UK Labour party conference this morning.
Thank you to the millions of people in Britain and around the world who stood firmly on the side of justice, on the side of Palestine 🇵🇸✊🏽

Brenda Power is a rare voice of moral clarity amongst the Irish commentariat on this issue. In under a minute she eviscerates Ireland’s hypocrisy.
‘There wasn’t a single peep of protest to the Irish cricket team voluntarily playing Afghanistan last month, where women are treated worse than battery chickens. It is the most extreme humanitarian crisis in the world right now, as far as I can see, the gender apartheid in Afghanistan. Not a word of protest.’
‘Where was your indignation when we played [Afghanistan]? England wouldn’t play them, South Africa wouldn’t play them, New Zealand wouldn’t play them. The great humanitarians in Ireland had absolutely no difficulty. We’re hypocrites.’

Glad to meet Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Founder of @Travalyst, in New York.
We share a common ambition: making tourism more sustainable while ensuring destinations and local communities benefit.
As we shape the first European Sustainable Tourism Strategy, partnerships like the one with Travalyst can help turn ambition into action and strengthen cooperation beyond Europe’s borders.

Everyone is focused on what buzzwords Ed Sheeran used to describe the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
For what it’s worth, I think his statement was nuanced and reflected actual thought, as well as his signature empathy.
But what struck me 100x more was his statement at the end of the concert.
He’s not reading from a script. He’s speaking from the heart, about what’s actually most important to him, the thing that actually drives him as an artist.
Love.
Love for his fans, for his craft, for music’s ability to bring people together who come from different backgrounds and don’t agree on a thing.
He speaks about how many people urged him to cancel his show. But he wouldn’t, because he knows behind every ticket is a fan, a family, and a story of travelling to see a show.
For me, this speech made his words about the victims of the Nova Festival on October 7th, which he spoke about at the beginning of the show, that much more powerful.
He also touched on his relief that the event went on safely, calling America “a dangerous place.” It's a heartbreaking sentence. After the week Sheeran had, for him, it's true.
When people are sending you death threats every minute, appearing in front of 50k people isn’t capitulation. It’s courage.
For all the accusations that Sheeran didn’t know what to say, he seems remarkably clear-eyed about the things that actually matter.

Worryingly this is true & it was reported Security had advised Starmer & family not to move back to their home.
Wouldn't be surprised if this contributed to his decision to resign as an MP.
Yet the media & some members of PLP gave him real grief about it

This article from @Telegraph is so frustrating to read. People owning their disabilities isn't a slight to anyone else. It can happen to anyone at any point. We're just trying to make the best of a world that doesn't always understand us. #EpilepsyAwareness

ALT A heading from The Telegraph's article entitled "How having a disability became cool" A quote "One in four Btritish people is now disabled, according to the Department for Work and Pensions' Family Resources Survey. To puth this figure in context, this is a higher rate of disability than witnessed in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War." -- A quote from Brain Ablaze: To put THAT in context: at the end of the Second World War and through the 1950s people with Epilepsy (and other disabilities) in the UK were still being forced into institutions." -- We have been always present just pushed into shadows and ignored.

Not sure why Mairi McAllan’s dislike of austerity, Brexit or welfare reform should preclude her from discussing with Michael Gove how his reforms have helped make England’s education system so much better than Scotland’s.
