By the time many teachers retire, they will have spent well over $30,000 on union dues to your (or NEA’s) bloated, top-down lobbyist group.
I challenge ANY teacher to show me how their classroom is better off today—their profession less burdensome and bureaucratic—than when they began thanks to the thousands of dollars spent on AFT or NEA.
Funding corporate big labor is the definition of insanity.

Here's another set of basic calculations to drive the point home
We spend $1.014 trillion total on public education. There are about 3.8 million teachers
Were all expenditures to go straight to teachers, their salaries would be $266,842
We choose to spend that money elsewhere

Over the past 6+ decades, public schools have made the decision to hire over three times the number of staff
Way more teachers aids, administrators, sped teachers, and auxiliary staff
That's money they didn't invest in teacher salaries

Wait til they discover their scholarships are now taxable income, and that 1st contract doesn’t get negotiated until a current HS Sophomore is about to get his degree. 🙄

For now, they’re calling it a “fraternity.” But the ultimate goal is for it to become a union. frontofficesports.com/inside…

“Independent locals often foster a more cooperative relationship with administrators and school boards. National organizations thrive on permanent conflict. Local associations have stronger incentives to solve problems inside the district.
The movement is growing.”

We’re building the infrastructure independent educators have been missing: community, professional resources, career support, and access to legal counsel—while helping educators understand and exercise their rights when they want truly independent, locally controlled representation.
No national political agenda.
No replacing one ideology with another.
No expectation that teachers become foot soldiers in someone else’s political movement.
Just educators supporting educators—and giving them the resources to make their own choices.
Teachers shouldn’t have to choose between the political agendas of the left and the political agendas of the right.
There is another way.
National Association of Independent Educators
Educator-Led. Locally Focused. Professionally Grounded.
For too long, teachers have been caught between competing political agendas.
On one side, large national unions increasingly engage in political and ideological battles that often have little to do with what happens in a teacher’s classroom.
On the other, organizations opposed to those unions too often approach educators through their own political lens—treating teachers as pieces in a larger ideological fight rather than professionals with their own interests and priorities.
NAIE rejects that choice.
We aren’t building a left-wing organization or a right-wing organization.
We’re building an educator organization.
NAIE exists for teachers who believe they should be free to associate—or not associate—with organizations of their choosing; that representation should be accountable to the educators being represented; and that decisions affecting teachers and schools should remain as close to the local level as possible.
After 20+ years in the classroom—and years working in labor reform—I’ve become convinced that educators need something fundamentally different.
That’s why we’re launching the National Association of Independent Educators, @the_naie

Nothing says “conservative values” like subjecting employees to a union they never voted for (CEMEX) and gov’t bureaucrats imposing a contract employees never ratified.
The FLCA is terrible for employees, employers, and everyone who supports workplace freedom.
Teachers in 30 Kansas school districts have rejected the @NEAToday in favor of their own independent locals.
More coming.

7 years ago, I wrote about the NEA's attempts to prevent locals from breaking away. Like a toddler playing Chutes & Ladders, they changed the rules when the game wasn't going their way. They knew this day was coming and continued to double down on failed promises, poor representation, and placing social agendas over member interests. wsj.com/articles/the-teacher…
The rise of finance unionism. The more Corporate Big Labor accrues and diversifies assets, the less it cares about members’ concerns…or dues.
