Checking drink orders while figuring out which passenger is a demon is a pretty rotten job design. So naturally it might be brilliant. Night Plane’s open beta gets the part most horror games miss: routine is scarier when the game makes you keep doing it. Not sprinting down a hallway. Not lore notes explaining that something bad happened here. Actually working. Ticket checks. In-flight service. Corporate politeness. All while a shape-shifting thing in seat 14C may or may not be wearing a human face better than management wears empathy. That job-sim layer is the hook. The monsters are almost secondary. Because horror lands harder when the system won’t let you stop and panic. It wants the cart moved. The passenger handled. The script followed. That’s a good design instinct. Weaponize routine, and suddenly every normal task feels contaminated. If Night Plane pulls that off, it won’t just be PSX horror with a nice premise. It’ll be one of those games that understands work is already half a nightmare.
