Here's the story on what happened outside the Wilson Building yesterday when former D.C. attorney general Karl Racine crashed a press conference put on by tenants of a building whose owner is his client — and is being sued by the current attorney general. washingtonsun.com/metro/karl…
In an unexpected scene, former D.C. attorney general Karl Racine just spoke at a protest held by tenants of buildings owned by his client, developer Buwa Binitie, who has been sued by the current attorney general over bad housing conditions. Litigation is ongoing.

We're proud to endorse @LisaJRaymond as our #1 pick for DC Council At-Large in the Democratic Primary. Lisa brings a policy-first perspective to the Council with a strong platform on housing production, protecting public safety, and strengthening DC's economy.

David, thank you for raising this. To be clear: This independent ad does not reflect how public safety issues should be discussed and I do not endorse it. I have campaigned on a positive message on this and every issue and urge others to do so as well.

She also called me after this tweet and further disavowed the way this mailer (mis)represents her stance on public safety.

It's interesting that when @repoyedc filled out our questionnaire, he understood the Height Act was about DC sovereignty. But in front of C100 he's willing to sell out home rule. Which is it?
Reading through these C100 questionnaires and surprised to see @repoyedc not support home rule and argue we need site-by-site input to ever build more housing. This is how we lock in displacement and exclusion. 1/

New: There’s finally some cross endorsing happening in the Dem at-large race. Lisa Raymond says she’s encouraging her supporters to also back Greg Jackson/Candace Nelson. Both have also said publicly they support Raymond so expect to see more cross endorsing from them too.

DC Residents, As a candidate for DC Council at Large, my commitment is to make DC a safer, more affordable place where ALL can thrive. I am committed to building a real public safety strategy and investments to make our communities safer. I will work to shift the philosophy of the DC Council to make DC a better place for small businesses to open, thrive and create jobs. I am committed to protecting and expanding resources for our youth, both education and recreation to ensure our future generations are better prepared for the real world. Additionally, I will build power within Congress to protect Home Rule and strengthen the coalition fighting for DC Statehood.  I know I’m the best candidate to accomplish that, but in an environment with 8 other candidates and rank choice voting, I encourage my supporters to consider ranking Candace Tiana Nelson and Lisa Raymond high on your list for DC Council At-Large.  At a time when our city faces significant challenges around affordability, public safety, economic opportunity, and trust in government, I believe Candace and Lisa bring the integrity, experience, compassion, and vision necessary to move our communities forward. Candace Tiana Nelson has demonstrated a deep commitment to government service, equity, and community-centered leadership. Her ability to connect policy and government with the real needs of residents makes her a powerful voice for families, working people, and neighborhoods across the District. Lisa Raymond has long been recognized as a thoughtful and results-oriented leader who understands how to bring people together to solve problems, especially in education. Her dedication to public service and improving quality of life for residents reflects the kind of steady leadership our city needs right now. Together, Candace, Lisa and I represent a new generation of leadership grounded in experience, collaboration, accountability, and action. We understand that effective leadership is not about talking points, it is about delivering meaningful results for the people they serve. During this critical time for the District, I encourage residents to support my run for DC Council and consider highly ranking Candace Tiana Nelson and Lisa Raymond. Less talk, more action.  Sincerely, Greg Jackson Jr. Candidate, DC Council At-Large

NEW: On the D.C. Council, four at-large lawmakers represent the whole city. For the last 13 years one of those has been Anita Bonds — who is not running again. Nine Democrats are running for her seat. @maustermuhle and @samdelgadoDC interviewed them all: 51st.news/at-large-candidate…

As ever, the debate comes down to taxes: @Janeese4DC favors new taxes on the wealthy and maybe even a "business activity" tax. @kenyanmcduffie disagrees: he'd rather expand the child tax credit (which itself will cost money). How will it all shake out? wamu.org/story/26/04/21/dc-c…

Most impressive answer during the DC Council At-Large candidate forum on transportation was when Lisa Raymond said that she would be comfortable removing parking even if it was politically unpopular.

Raymond says she’s also won the backing of former Ward 3 CM Mary Cheh. It’s gonna be tough for anyone to stand out in this 10-candidate field so I’ll be very curious to see who else starts to win serious support
Some 2026 news: @charlesallen is endorsing Lisa Raymond, the ex-SBOE rep in Ward 6 running for the at-large council seat. The only other CM to weigh in on the race thus far, to my knowledge, is the person who gave up the seat: Anita Bonds backed former aide Kevin Chavous...
