Exclusive: 💣
Newcastle United have held an emergency meeting to discuss the future of head coach Matthias Jaissle.
Sources indicate the club is actively exploring a change in the dugout and has made contact with former Liverpool manager Arne Slot regarding the role. Convincing Slot to take the job is understood to be a significant challenge, though the club remains hopeful.
😂😂😂
And by the way, Nick Pope would be starting in goal for me on Saturday at Fulham.
There, I said it. #NUFC
So who’s the Leak?!

I think Jaissle does have a good style of football, but for whatever reason it’s just not working here & the players clearly aren’t having it. However we won’t sack him because the club won’t admit they’ve got it wrong
Really worrying quotes tbh. It’s clear the players aren’t listening to him, or they’re devoid of any confidence. It’s his job to fix either scenario
🇩🇪 Matthias Jaissle admits his team resorted to long balls today, which wasn’t the plan:
🗣️ “They (players) have trained on a high level in the build-up, but when the ref started the game you couldn’t see that.
🗣️ “It wasn’t the plan to shoot the long balls, it’s important to say that.
“It was not good enough and it was not brave enough to penetrate the last line.
🗣️ “The goal came from an unforced error that led to a free-kick, but to be honest we were just sleeping. It’s so easy for them to take the quick free-kick and we were surprised. On a good day of course, Lukas (Hornicek) saves it.
🗣️ “We have to stick together now, we have to show unity. It’s the only way.
When the goals aren’t coming easily you lack confidence, it’s normal as a human being.
🗣️ “We saw during the week (the quality is there) but we need to take it to the pitch.
🗣️ “It’s clear I have the responsibility to make it work as the manager of this club.”

The Optimist in me really wants to get behind Jaissle but I’m really struggling to see what the plan is. We’re likely in huge danger this season if something doesn’t change fast, or he goes. Really disappointing
Steur has the most successful passes in the final third and he’s been on about 20 mins. Streets ahead of Nico
Another half of football where we’ve done absolutely nothing in attack. It’s starting to become a huge worry
Karma.
🚨 Gateshead FC is now in real danger of facing winding-up proceedings
⏳ I understand HMRC have set a deadline of Wednesday (Nov 4) for progress before formal demands will be made. That would give the club 7 days to clear outstanding PAYE & VAT
🇺🇸 Flacks Group (an American private investment group) are ready to proceed with a takeover but need Shoreline Limited (fronted by Viktor Anichebe and who previously attempted to buy the club) to sign a waiver over money they claim they are owed by former club shareholders
🤝 This would clear the way for Flacks to complete their takeover of Gateshead, with Shoreline then able to pursue those shareholders separately
⚽ I understand Shoreline are currently in talks with the IFR to purchase League One Bromley
💰 Gateshead's players have not been paid & the club currently owes £200k to creditors
👀 Flacks' plans for Gateshead sound exciting & ambitious, with high-profile staff ready to come in
