2024 was bookended with NY trips to see two of my favs (Austin Butler in January and Kit Connor in November). Those trips, plus getting to see Joe in Sweeney Todd, turned 2024 into one of my favorite years in recent memory. Here’s to more memorable days in 2025!

For everyone attacking my birth state of Mississippi, PLEASE understand the affidavit ballot process. Voters who need to cure ID-related issues have until Tuesday, November 10. Other affidavit ballots must be reviewed and verified by election officials. It’s normal to not understand the election process in every state, but look that it up before getting online and just posting shit.

Mississippis batch drops are SO small it's almost like the mf'ers don't wanna even count them. This is disgraceful and embarrassing. How are all of the ballots not counted at the same time??? I don't understand this process. "Batch drops" ...what the fk is THAT? Drop them mfers at the same damn time and let's get on with this. Sickuh this shit.
A very helpful article, esp for all the accounts making endless jokes about how Mississippi is too stupid or slow to count ballots. 🙄
AP explainer on why they say it's still too early to call Mississippi's U.S. Senate race. It's largely due to Mississippi's arcane election system: mississippifreepress.org/why…

The Mississippi Secretary of State removed tens of thousands of citizens from the voter roles illegally so when they went to the polls they had to fill out provisional ballots now he’s saying there’s too many provisional ballots. That means there’s something wrong. Yes, it’s him.

Scott Colom began his press conference today offering sight-seeing tips to media in the area this week. The out-of-state reporters and crew have plenty of time on their hands since they can only speak with half the candidates while CHS remains in the witness protection program.
Watch cause it’s funny. But as someone who voluntarily moved to Mississippi we definitely need better PR. Would help to pick another Senator - like @scott_colom. So vote!

Why are we calling it Blississippi when we have Flippissippi or Missiflippi instead

Yall be gentle on them church ladies counting the ballots. You will get a Colom victory but you will not raise their blood pressure!
The problem lies in policies around voting. Because you can also know they never expected to have to go through something like this!

There’s a real irony in Republicans hoping that the late mail votes in Mississippi will rescue Cindy Hyde-Smith — just months after the RNC sued to void Mississippi’s ability to count late-arriving votes and lost at SCOTUS, 5-4.

hadn't really hit me that some of the voters who just sent a Black man to the Senate from Mississippi remember having to pay poll taxes. American history is so short. Historic. So so so so so happy for them.

Mississippi is actually ranked #29 in K-12 education, ahead of Pennsylvania and Ohio.

AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. You’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
And because you did it the first time you ever voted, you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Let’s just do it again.’
All jokes aside people really need to understand that the vast majority of the remaining ballots are affidavit (bc the sec of state used shifty data to purge the polls just prior to the election) so this is GONNA TAKE A MINUTE. People aren’t being slow to count.
