(1/4) Alright, snow fans! The moment you've all been waiting for has arrived: my 2026-2027 Winter Outlook! Two primary winter-season influences will be our Super, east-based El Niño and slightly-negative Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO)..
In today's medium-range video, student meteorologist @wxwithmatt and I highlight the return of mostly sunny, dry and seasonable conditions from Sunday into the middle of next week. After tonight, we'll be treated to another long stretch of quiet weather.

Despite the clouds and isolated showers, SSW winds of 10-20 mph will continue to pump warm and humid air into northern MD, southeastern PA and the LSV today. Thus, highs should still reach the low-to-mid 70s with dewpoints in the balmy low-to-mid 60s. Impressive for #November!
A disturbance moving through the Commonwealth from SW-to-NE is bringing scattered showers to southeastern PA and the LSV this morning. A lull in the activity will occur between ~10 AM and 2 PM before additional, isolated showers erupt between 2-8 PM.

Winter weather forecasting is complex. As we make forecasts throughout the winter, we pay especially close attention to the “warm layer” aloft. It determines whether you’ll see snow, sleet, freezing rain, or rain at your location! #WinterPrepPA #PAwx
In today's SWD, I highlight the unseasonably warm weather through the end of the week, beneficial rain later tonight into tomorrow, and cooldown over the weekend. Despite more seasonable conditions next week, no "cold days" are in the foreseeable future.

Behind tomorrow morning's disturbance, SW flow will continue to pump warm and humid air into the LSV. Clouds may break for some PM sun, and high temps should soar into the low-to-mid 70s again with dewpoints in the low-to-mid 60s. A few additional showers may erupt after midday.
A weakening disturbance will sweep through the mid-Atlantic States from SW-to-NE spanning tonight into tomorrow and bring showers or a period of light rain to northern MD, southeastern PA and the LSV between ~1-11 AM Thursday. Rainfall amounts should not exceed 0.50-0.75".

When a snow squall hits, visibility can drop to almost nothing in an instant. There is no safe place on a highway during a snow squall, but if you do get stuck on the road: reduce your speed, turn on your headlights, and don’t slam on your brakes! #WinterPrepPA #PAwx
Southerly winds of 8-16 mph on the backside of a high pressure system over the western Atlantic will continue to pump unseasonably warm air into northern MD, southeastern PA and the LSV today. Under mostly sunny skies, high temps will soar into the mid- to perhaps upper 70s!
In today's short-term video, student meteorologists Charlie Beetham, @mitchell_cokain and @roonski03 highlight the unseasonably warm conditions through the end of the week, as well as the return of wet weather on Thursday.

Light, southerly flow on the backside of a high pressure system over the western Atlantic will pump even warmer air into northern MD, southeastern PA and the LSV today. Under mostly sunny skies, high temps will be 10-15°F above normal, or in the low 70s. #GetOutside and #Enjoy!

I highlight 4 primary factors in the seasonal forecast and outline how they should influence temp/precip patterns across the region. Let's see how I do! #StayTuned
(3/4) Overall, it will be a "backend winter" with an enhanced risk of a major Nor'easter or two between Jan 20-Feb 20. However, aggregate temps. should be above normal (3-5°F) with snowfall perhaps near normal (20-30"). The coldest periods will likely occur in late Jan or Feb..
