A motte-and-bailey fort is an early medieval fortification type consisting of a raised earth mound (motte) topped with a wooden or stone keep, connected to an enclosed, ditched courtyard (bailey)
Still one of my favorite types of forts for some reason; I guess it's having the small town under protection as well, the big ass castle has been done to death with everything, and I just want to see some other designs in entertainment.
