Today is International Day of Forests. Victoria has the most beautiful and carbon dense forests in the world. Yet VicForests lost $54 million last year to log them. #stopnativeforestlogging #auspol #springst

If you’ve really created 240,000 jobs, then why are you wasting $54M a year of our money woodchipping native forest? Taxpayer owned woodchipper vicforests lost $54M last year, up from $30M the year before, and you bailed them out with our money AGAIN. #springst #auspol

Just beyond the plantations, we visited an area of native forest which is scheduled for logging. Steep terrain, with (to my eyes) generally low quality timber - and mostly quite young. So probably will end up largely as pulp.

We are off looking at areas threatened by logging in north east VIC. Locals wanted to show us the plantation harvesting too. No drainage lines protected, imagine the erosion into the Ovens River when it rains. What a horror show.

On Sunday I visited Toolangi Forest in the Central Highlands. The increased bush fire risk is there for all to see. The science is clear - we need to stop native forest logging now, before it’s too late.

On the left, Ross Hampton from the Australian Forest Products Association (in Timberbiz today). On the right, actual facts from the ABC (also today). It's just exhausting, constantly countering industry misinformation like this.

Please like and retweet if you think that tree planting and forest restoration initiatives should be mandated across the globe to accelerate climate action.

The drought in Somalia is driving millions to the brink of starvation. The entire continent of Africa only contributes 3% of total global emissions. Where is the climate justice?

An updated map of the logging that is planned for Mt Stirling, in the VIC high country, which could start at any moment. #SaveMtStirling

There is clearly a strong desire to see urgent action to protect native forests. The strong showing by The Greens demonstrates the community expectation for a rapid phase out of logging. #VicVotes2022

The Vic govt spends $21m of taxpayer dollars per year to cut down and burn native forests. It endangers species like the Greater Glider & 90% of logs go to wood chips. When The Age asked Liberal @JohnPesutto about it, they got: “No comment”. theage.com.au/politics/victo… – at Melbourne, Victoria

We just found out that the people of NSW have spent another $9 million over the past year subsiding the native forest logging industry in NSW. Scenes in the video below are unfolding everyday across the state, destroying critical wildlife habitat. It's a disgrace. #nswpol

🆘#VicVotes Let's make native forest #logging an election issue —#Victoria's native #forests are some of the most carbon dense in the world—but they're being bulldozed by #VicForests at rate of ~4 MCGs a day—and ALL Life within them #climate #extinction
Mads is still running in the Great Forest marathon. Mind you, she’s completing 4 consecutive laps (Healesville to Toolangi) = 168km! If you’d like to show your support, please donate here 💚💚 greatforest.raisely.com/mads…

Our Mountain Ash forests are irreplaceable. Do vote for candidates that will end logging before 2024. The ALP and LNP want 8 years more logging - or more. By 2030 there will be almost nothing left. #VoteClimate #VoteForests
The divide between @LiberalNSW and @LiberalVictoria widens with NO NATURE policy on offer for Victorians. Forfeiting their Hamer roots for the vision of the Nationals to log every last tree is disappointing. With 2000 species in trouble voters want nature policy #VicVotes2022

Victorians, our beautiful forests continue to be ravaged by VicForests funded and greenwashed by Dan Andrews and Labor.Matthew Guy is no better. It’s time we voted in a parliament with a cross bench that will put an end to logging. #VoteForests #LoggingisCriminal #ClimateCrisis

Toolangi. Sentinel. A sad and solitary ghost indicating what was once a healthy habitat for greater gliders. These trees usually die or become windfall. What say you @DanielAndrewsMP this is appalling #ClimateCrisis #Carbon #RespectTheScience

Ok good people & Victorian voters. If you’re deeply concerned about environmental calamity, our imperilled wildlife & climate change, can I ask you all a favour, please? Please vote for/favourably preference Greens & Teal Independents. More of the same = disaster. Science says.

The Vic Govt has not actually legislated to end native forest logging in Victoria by 2030, it’s just another thing they’ve said they’ll do…. Forest at Fumina. Victoria before, and after, VicForests got hold of it.
