Moving onto something a bit different! (Thread) 🎭
I have always loved Greek mythology, especially how a myth that you’ve read a hundred times can suddenly feel completely new depending on how experience it. Like through opera, opera can bring out entirely new perspectives. It’s such a classical, intense way of depicting hero/villains, tragedy, love and grief. But, it can also feel a bit inaccessible.
With that in mind… Hackney Empire have kindly invited me and given me a discount code to share! 🙏🏾
This season explores two Ancient Greek stories and an adaptation of Virgil’s Aeneid, all centred on love, loss, yearning and heartbreak.

Chelsea legend Paul Canoville: “What really strikes me about Liam is he grew up and played not far from here [Chelsea], he knows this community. His dad Leroy has an MBE for his work tackling discrimination in sport. That’s exactly what we do at The Paul Canoville Foundation, working with young people every day. There’s a real alignment there, no?
When kids see someone like Liam managing their club, someone who looks like them, who’s from their ends, who comes from a family that fights for what’s right... that’s powerful, man. That’s hope. That’s showing them the path is there.”
