As a PR person, you may help someone to have a voice, but you may also be the eyes and ears too, watching out for potential issues and advising accordingly.
Entering awards can be good for your business. Good PR, good for staff, and an opportunity to look at your business and benchmark what you’re doing.
A new client, a refreshed business rather than a start up, has been shortlisted for two awards.
“I do not think it would have got that far if you did not write this for me, so thank you!”
Finishing off a case study. It's also a press release. And social media content.
Make your words work hard. Think about how the content can be maximised.
Quick tip here.
If you've posted a Facebook update, have a think if it can be repurposed to be a press release.
Always think about how to make your words work harder.
Trying to reduce car usage as much as possible, so walking to a client meeting later this morning.
It also helps with fitness, and recovery from back injury.
And, it’s sunny, so why not?
Great to see a very local venue to me, Carr Bank Wedding Venue, get coverage in local and regional media.
Good press release (of course), but actually a good story.
And, in fact, news.
Press releases should tell a genuine news story.
That’s a secret to getting coverage.
PR is not just about press releases (although I write a lot of them). It's about getting the right messages across to the right audience using whichever way is best. It could be via releases, social media, meetings etc etc. It's our job to think of the right way.
Another CV I prepared for someone has helped them to get a new role.
They start their new job in next week or so.
It’s about presentation, about persuasive words, about what they bring to a role and why they’re the ideal choice.
Result.
Client has been shortlisted in three awards categories, with submissions written by @Mandatum_PR. That'll do.
To be fair, they do the proper work, I just write about it in a compelling manner.
As if a new mobile coffee wagon has opened up a stone’s throw from me out in the sticks and it sells @200Degs and as if I stopped on my way home this morning to have a coffee before knuckling down to work.
Blocking out time for next week's writing projects. Couple of late additions but with a bit of jiggery-pokery, jobs are in the diary.
Also making time to read, about all manner of things, from leadership to copywriting, to entrepreneurialism and the business of estate agents.
Responding to client reviews, and writing.
All while having a coffee in, or rather outside, a Nottingham cafe.
Not missed pubs as I don’t drink, but cafes and coffee, now you’re talking.
If you're writing a news release, ask yourself whether or not it is news. Ask yourself if it is relevant and timely. Don't try to make it news if it isn't. Your words won't get used and you'll waste your time and money.
Had some property sales particulars sent to me - and they refer to the house as "she".
Don't know about you, but this isn't good.
To be fair, the rest of the copy is fine as it takes you on a journey. But calling a property "she"? Just, don't.
