The win makes me extremely happy for #ArshadNadeem and at the same time makes me extremely sad about the amount of talent and potential in our athletes which goes to waste due to neglect, corruption and politicking by the State. We are the 5th most populous country in the world filled with natural talent and abilities which never receive the attention and support they deserve. Hope if nothing else than at least Arshad's Olympic 🥇 makes us realise that. We need to aim for a contingent of 70 not 7 for the next Olympics.

I am deeply troubled by reports of interference in this week's election in Pakistan. The legitimacy of any incoming government rests on fair elections, free of manipulation, intimidation, or fraud. The Pakistani people deserve nothing less than a transparent democratic process and true representative government.
I call on the State Department to refrain from recognizing the results until credible, independent investigations have been conducted into the numerous allegations of misconduct.
