Jared, your talk of “30 years of mistrust” and “competing security concerns” sounds remarkably like something Vladimir Putin would write himself. Let me remind you what actually happened during those 30 years. 1992: Russian forces intervened in Moldova’s Transnistrian conflict, helping entrench a separatist territory where Russian troops remain. 2008: Russia fought a war against Georgia and consolidated its occupation of Georgian territory. 2014: Russia illegally annexed Crimea and fuelled a war in eastern Ukraine. 2022: Russia launched the largest invasion in Europe since World War II, bringing massacres in Bucha, torture, deportations of civilians, the forced transfer of children and the systematic destruction of Ukrainian communities. Meanwhile, Russia had already signed the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, promising to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders, and the 1997 NATO-Russia Founding Act, committing itself to European security principles. Europe already had a security architecture, Jared. Russia repeatedly violated it. Your language deliberately blurs the distinction between an aggressor and its victims. That is precisely how the Kremlin wants this conflict presented. Russia is a nuclear power. Nobody in Europe is preparing to invade it. Russia’s neighbours, however, have spent decades defending themselves against Russian aggression. And if you genuinely believe that no country should have a veto over another nation’s alliances, perhaps you should explain that principle to Putin. Europe does not need another security framework designed around Moscow’s imperial ambitions. It needs Russia to respect the borders, sovereignty and international agreements it has repeatedly violated. Stop talking as though Russia and its neighbours are equally responsible for this catastrophe. They are not.
President Trump today advanced an important discussion with several European leaders about the need for a broader European security architecture that can help establish the conditions for lasting peace. Building on his leadership and the substantive work undertaken this week in Brussels with Ukraine, NATO, and our European partners, @SEPeaceMissions and I wanted to share some of the objectives guiding our ongoing discussions. For more than 30 years, Europe and Russia have struggled to establish a sustainable security framework. Decades of mistrust, competing security concerns, and the devastating consequences of this war make this an extraordinarily difficult challenge, but one that is essential to lasting peace. Our objective is to develop practical arrangements that address the security concerns of all sides, reduce the risk of future conflict, and create a more stable and predictable security environment. We are exploring five principal goals: permanent security consultations, reliable crisis communications, greater military transparency, reciprocal measures to reduce escalation risks, and an enduring framework for long-term European security and stability. Any arrangements must fully respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independent decision-making of every nation. Each country will retain authority over its own security and alliances, and no country would have a veto over another’s sovereign choices. NATO will remain central to European collective defense, and this initiative would build upon existing institutions and commitments. We will continue consultations through the Shell Bay format with Ukraine, NATO, the EU, and our European partners, expanding engagement to ensure that all relevant perspectives and ideas are considered. We will also engage Russia as part of the peace negotiations. Next week in Abu Dhabi, the United States will convene the first trilateral peace discussions with Ukraine and Russia since February. All parties remain intensely engaged in preparing for substantive and productive negotiations. We will consult closely with our European partners on the sidelines and, if progress is made, aim to move toward a broader multilateral format with their direct participation. These ideas continue to evolve, and we welcome thoughtful input. Creating the right structure will be critical to ending this war and transitioning from conflict toward conditions that make possible a durable peace. This is difficult, detailed work. There are no easy solutions. But the opportunity to help end this devastating war and build a foundation for a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous Europe for generations to come makes it a challenge well worth undertaking. We will see how these discussions develop and continue working intensively with all parties toward President Trump’s objective of a comprehensive and lasting peace.

Kirill Dimitrov is a senior leader of the russian terrorist state responsible for killing, raping, kidnapping and starving Ukrainians in occupied Oleshky. Melania Trump is a russian asset taking credit for a temporary humanitarian ceasefire she had nothing to do with.

Marine Le Pen has rejected President Zelensky’s invitation to visit Ukraine, stating that her “presidential campaign schedule is preventing her from travelling”. In 2017, Marine Le Pen travelled to Moscow less than four weeks before the first round of the presidential election.

What do the U.S. election results mean for us? As human beings, we always believe and hope that any changes will be for the better. Why? Because during any election, especially in the United States, you hear signals. The signals from the Democratic Party were that, if they win, then, in addition to domestic issues, it will be important for them to focus on the war in Europe. This is Russia's war against Ukraine. We have bipartisan support. I'm grateful to both Democrats and Republicans for that. But during the election campaign, Democrats spoke very clearly about supporting Ukraine and providing assistance to Ukraine. In my view, some of these ties between America and Europe have been lost over the past two years. And this alliance is very important to us, because without it, stopping Putin is extremely difficult. And so the hope is that the balance of power will now be such that we will receive more support. If Congress starts talking about strong financial support for Ukraine or providing Ukraine with weapons – like the support Europe is showing today, for example – that will be a positive thing. It will influence Putin and make him think about whether it makes sense for him to continue the war. Logically, this will bring us closer to potential negotiations and potential peace. When Putin seized Crimea, both Europe and America were quite openly making calls, holding meetings, and sending signals to the Ukrainians who were in power at the time that there should be no escalation – let's just keep things friendly and leave things as they are for now. And we lost Crimea. After that, we lost part of Donbas. But the shooting in the east continued. There was no peace. People think we were always helped. That is not true. Help started coming after the full-scale invasion, but that was after eight years of Russia occupying our territory. That is a long time to figure things out and understand that Putin has no intention of giving anything back to us. At one point, some Europeans asked me: “Why do you think that if you withdraw from Donbas, he will go further?” And I answered: “Because at the beginning of the war, he wasn't seizing Donbas. He came to the capital. He seized parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Kherson itself, and Kharkiv region.” We have retaken a lot of territory, but he had seized different parts of our country. And now they want us to give them something because they are unable to seize it. We may have a smaller territory, less money, and fewer weapons, but we still have more dignity than many others. We will do everything we can to end this war, but it must end in a way that preserves our dignity. From an interview with ZDF. (2/3)

#LePen #RN
