SBI Update + $USDC payments in Japan

@sbigroup announced their new partnership with @Circle to provide access to $USDC Stablecoin & SBI Shinsei Bank will provide banking services to Circle. This will enable access to liquidity for Japan-based businesses and users--and in that same announcement, @sbivc_official is seeking registration as an electronic payment instruments service, which is subject to approval by the authorities. One of the use cases is with the programmable wallet planned to be used at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, handling USDC. On Jan 1 2025, President of SBIVC Trade Kondo san was quoted in the CoinDesk article (see link below), "Demand for international remittances using USDC will likely become strong from both individuals and corporations in Japan as well," adding, "Inbound tourists will be able to use it for shopping, and domestic consumers will be able to use it to pay for purchases through cross-border e-commerce services and the like. Another use case we can think of is as a payment method that can be used in games."

What began as an officially signed collaboration back in Dec 2023 has grown into one of the most exciting innovations in global trade today!
Dec 2023- Signed MoU for partnership
Jun 2024- Success Proof of Concept
Dec 2024- Platform used by SBI subsidiary
2025- Plans to add services to XDC & HBAR
In just 1 year alone we've seen unreal progress out of this collaboration.
While we see countless developments in crypto & DLT being formed, many don't amount to much.
We've seen names such as IBM, Oracle, Deutsche Telekom, even banking giants like Goldman Sachs enter DLT thru various projects in this space.
But many of those collaborations seemingly would gradually fade or bring much less than expected.
Contrary to this collaboration between XDC & SBI...
Here we've seen nothing but consistent progress and growth of how they're implementing this joint solution into real world global trade problems.
It's great to see that SBI is now REALLY getting into DLT and digital assets.
Really gotta wonder what they might be bringing to both XDC & HBAR this year too.
As we know, these two are also the ONLY community supported DLTs integrated with Singapore's IMDA TradeTrust for MLETR enabled trading.
