A car drove through the fencing and onto the pedestrian plaza of the West 72nd Street and Broadway train station around 3:15 a.m. this morning. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. First 2 photos by instagram.com/bmerrillgarcia…

An NYPD officer shot and killed a man in Brooklyn, so @BrooklynDA Eric Gonzalez’s office filed charges – not against the officer who killed someone but against two activists who posted flyers criticizing the officer.

when you can't get people to come out to your protest even when you change the day/time so you start calling it a press conference instead >>>>>

This is what it looks like when we light money on fire. Encouraging people to drive to the airport is nothing to be proud of. Bringing more traffic to Queens is an own goal. The AirTrain should be free and should offer a one seat ride.
🚗 Major milestone on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens, NY! The new HOV lane is OPEN to vehicles with 2+ occupants! Today, NYS announced the completion of major work on the $1.4 billion project that helps reduce congestion and improve airport access. 🔗bit.ly/47D1M2l

Mamdani just deployed every red light camera he’s permitted. But that’s only 600 in a city with 13,000+ signalized intersections. We deserve to be safe from red light running every time we cross the street. When Albany gets back to work, let’s turn 600 into 6000.
We know how to make our streets safer, so we did it 600 times. Red light cameras reduce red light running by 80% and T-bone crashes by 65%. Most importantly, they help New Yorkers get home safely. That's why we installed new red light cameras at 600 intersections across the five boroughs to help stop dangerous driving before tragedy strikes, and make our streets safer for everyone who walks, rolls, drives, or takes the bus. nydailynews.com/2026/10/21/n…

Drivers in NYC are out of control. This Benz driver smashed through the fence of William Dougherty Playground. A few more e-bike bills should prevent this

Frustrating how we treat parking an oversized vehicle on the sidewalk as normal, just because it’s too big for the owner’s driveway. Total privatization of public space. Pedestrians get pushed aside, and local governments look the other way.

There’s full retail occupancy at Union Square, sidewalks and public seating full of people in this video—I’m starting to think they might actually just love traffic.
Flatiron / Union Square looks pretty deserted. This is what happens when streets meant for transportation are removed, people's transportation options are taken away, and neighborhoods get barricaded. @NYCCouncil @NYCMayorsOffice @SpeakerMenin @NYCMayor @NY1 @errollouis

Just absolutely nothing @ConEdison can do to reduce its property tax burden. They absolutely must have these giant surface parking lots on prime waterfront property.
Con Edison bills will soon show how much of your cash goes to NYC property taxes trib.al/McHHF3b

Inspired by @StreetsblogNYC’s article, I'm introducing the 50 States of Placard Fraud Contest. Document NYC employees displaying placards with out-of-state plates. NJ/CT = 1 point, PA = 2, everywhere else = 3. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/10/…

Every single Republican president in my life has started a war in the Middle East and crashed the economy. Why is ANYONE rightwing, I genuinely don't understand.
How are any young men left wing I genuinely don’t understand

“MOAR COPS” is not the solution to every problem. Have you tried infrastructure as a deterrent? Raised curbs, speed bumps, bollards, bulb-outs, etc.?

Spent last week in CDMX with @UDFNYC, and still in awe of its bus rapid transit — good for riders *and* emergency vehicles.

Most road widenings happened with 0 public input. Trucks just showed up in the middle of the night and bulldozed sidewalks to add a few traffic lanes because traffic engineers said so. Now, when we want those lanes converted back to sidewalks or bike lanes, it requires 15 public meetings, coordination between 5 different city agencies, and special one-on-one meetings with NIMBYs. And it still might not happen because that NIMBY knows people in city hall.

1.3% of vehicle lanes in NYC have been converted to bike lane so far, but 6.2%* of trips using the roads are by bikes. What would happen if 5% of lanes were converted to bike lanes?

if this reporting is correct, this is grounds for immediate dismissal. completely unacceptable to jeopardize even more new yorkers’ safety after one of their neighbors was shot
According to news reports NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch instructed NYPD officers to turn off their body cameras during the protest against ICE for shooting a 28 year old man who had his 5 y/o son in the backseat.

Drivers in NYC are completely out of control. Maybe the driver who ran over this guy “lost control” and “couldn’t stop” or he experienced a “medical episode” or any such excuse for speeding, inattention, and recklessness
A Queens pedestrian is fighting for his life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning. Read more at the link in bio.
