today i learned that Elon is getting into space drugs it's called Starfall and it's basically a flying drug lab > drug companies pack their ingredients into a 10-foot-wide capsule > a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carries it into orbit > the drugs grow on their own with nobody on board > then the capsule falls back to Earth and parachutes into the Pacific the reason they go through all that hassle is that drugs come out way better when they’re made in space because the tiny crystals they’re made of grow evenly up there instead of lumpy like they do on Earth take Keytruda, the best-selling drug in the world scientists grew its crystals on the space station, which helped turn it from a 2-hour IV drip into a 1-minute shot and the craziest part is that some medicine might only be possible to develop up there for example: scientists couldn't get clean crystals of a key Duchenne muscular dystrophy protein on Earth but the ones grown in space finally showed its shape and led to a new drug that went into human trials so i think space will unlock a whole new class of drugs that are impossible to make on Earth

I know @HaleyforMI way better than most people on X. She and I came into Congress together in 2018. She was co-Prez of our freshman class. She was incredibly kind to me when my late partner died; she organized a big group of our class to come to the House floor to support me when I spoke about his suicide. We were roommates in 2023, after my wonderful first roomie lost her election; both my adult kids know Haley well and are on a texting basis with her. We’ve socialized and we have good friends in common. While she and I differ on one impt issue, specifically Israel and AIPAC support, I’ve never publicly challenged her on those things, because I felt that her good points outweighed the issues I disagreed with her on. Today, that changes. 👇 Haley’s endorsement of Rogers in the MI senate race is appalling. Not because he’s a Republican, but because what he stands for is what she, and I, and our caucus has fought so hard against. Rogers is a 100% anti-choice politician. He is a Trump loyalist. He’s shown his Islamophobia in his many remarks against @AbdulElSayed, and with this endorsement, Haley has shown that she agrees with his positions. I’m shocked by Haley’s endorsement. I’m terribly sad and disappointed. I’m furious and will be more so if we lose the MI senate race. So many people in the Democratic Party have shown so much support to Haley over the years, and she has betrayed them all. If this is because of her new relationship (about which many of us were so happy for her after she lost the primary), all I can say is that any woman who abandons her friends when a new guy comes along is no friend at all. The fallout for Haley won’t just be in Dem politics; she will be a pariah among her friends in the Democratic caucus in Congress. Only she will be able to decide whether it was worth it.

My son saved a kid from OD'ing last night at The Knitting Factory. He said he went to go use the bathroom because in his words, "I had to take a fat piss" (yes, this is how he talks to me and I find it hilarious) and another dude walked out and said it was a disaster in there. He assumed someone had, well, made a disaster in the bathroom. It was much worse. There was a crowd standing around something and he pushed through to see someone on the floor. Vomit and blood coming out of his mouth. No one was doing anything. They had their phones out. THEY HAD THEIR PHONES OUT. He said he "Jesus carried" the person out of the bathroom. And the kid started seizing in his arms. He carried him to the front of the place because he didn't know what else to do. He was on the phone with 911, trying to tell them what was going on when an EMT showed up, who also happened to be at the show, and took over the phone call. The kid was wearing an apple watch and his BP was down to 56. He said it was the scariest thing, and even more scary..."There was nothing behind his eyes, mom. They were just gone." He said we would come to and then they would go again. All I could say was, "Well, yeah. He was dying. You saved him. I'm proud of you." The kid is doing okay. Turns out, he's the boyfriend of one my son's friends. She texted him to thank him and let him know he's doing okay. I'm glad my son was the one who saved this kid. I am glad that his first reaction wasn't to take out his phone and start recording. I am sad for him that he had to witness the life go out of someone's eyes. That's something that stays with you. It never leaves. He will have nightmares about it, because I know my son, and I know he will. And I say all that to say this: BE THE ONE. Be the person who does something, says something. My boy has always been embarrassed of me because I am the one who says something. He doesn't understand why I do that. I should just stay out of it. It's not my problem. I don't agree. I will say something. I will do something. Someone has to. Everyone always assumes someone else is going to do something...when everyone assumes it's someone else's problem, the thing never gets done...and people die. Also, fuck all those putos who stood around and did nothing. I am so angry they just stood there watching someone die. What a gross testament for this generation that their first inclination is to whip out their phones instead of getting help. WTAF.

Some of you are going through this same thing, in spite of the fact that you raised your children in the Lord. It is at epidemic proportions today. The transformed Wife and I share many similarities in child-rearing, yet 2 of my children walked into the world. I want you to know that if you, too, are missing out on the job of helping to instruct and nurture your children and grandchildren, I am praying for you right now. It is an unbearable pain.
